Selection Trials for Assam Karate Team – 69th National School Games 2025-26

Official Announcement by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Assam

We are pleased to inform all Karatekas, coaches, and district associations that the Selection Trial for the Assam Karate Team for participation in the 69th National School Games 2025-26 will be held as per the details below:

Dates:

25th October 2025 – U-14, U-17 & U-19 Girls

26th October 2025 – U-14, U-17 & U-19 Boys

Venue: Rudra Singha Sports Complex, Dispur, Guwahati
Time: Reporting at 7:00 AM onwards

Selection Committee:

Documents Required (4 copies each):
1. Eligibility Certificate
2. Birth Certificate
3. Marksheet of last Annual Examination
4. Aadhaar Card

Each district is requested to send 1 player per weight category in both Boys and Girls divisions. Players must report one day before the trial.

Age Criteria:
U-14: Born on or after 01-01-2012
U-17: Born on or after 01-01-2009
U-19: Born on or after 01-01-2007
(Participants should be studying in Class 12 or below, but not below Class 6.)

This is an important opportunity for young Karatekas to represent Assam at the National School Games! Let’s show the strength, discipline, and fighting spirit of Assam Karate once again.

An Urgent Appeal for Our Karate Sister – Akanksha Konwar

It is with a heavy heart that we share this painful news — International Karate Player from Assam, Akanksha Konwar, has been diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor.

Akanksha, who has made Assam and India proud with her dedication and achievements in Karate, now needs our collective strength. Her immediate surgery and treatment require ₹40,00,000, a sum far beyond her family’s means.

As a Karate fraternity, we always say: “Once a Karateka, always a Karateka — we stand together as one family.” Today, our sister needs us more than ever.

Your contribution — no matter how small — can bring her closer to life-saving treatment. Please come forward, donate, and share this appeal widely. Let us show Akanksha that she is not alone, that the entire Karate family and people of Assam stand firmly beside her in this fight.

With profound grief and an irreparable sense of loss, the Unified Karate Guild mourns the untimely passing of our beloved Zubeen Garg.

Zubeen da was not just an artist—he was the very heartbeat of Assam. His voice carried our joys, our sorrows, and our dreams. Generations have grown up listening to him, learning from him, and being inspired by his music, his simplicity, and his unwavering love for our land.

He meant Assam. He defined what it means to belong, to fight, to love, and to dream as an Assamese. His songs were our identity, his words were our strength, and his melodies will forever echo in our hearts.

Today, we have lost more than a legend—we have lost a part of ourselves. Yet, his spirit will continue to guide us, inspire us, and remind us that Assam lives on in the voices of its people, just as Zubeen da wished.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, his countless admirers, and to every heart that beats in rhythm with Assam.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. His legacy will live on forever.
