A strong backhand isn’t just about swinging through the ball—it’s about understanding shape, spin, and net clearance.
In this focused session, Coach Pradeep Arya works with players on creating a true topspin backhand by lifting through the ball, brushing up the back of the racket face, and maintaining a higher net clearance for deeper, safer, and more consistent shots.
To reinforce this, a high obstacle goal post is used as a visual target. This helps players learn how to drive the ball up and over with controlled height, encouraging a smooth, upward swing path that automatically generates topspin. By clearing the obstacle, players develop the confidence to hit with margin while still keeping the ball dipping back into the court.
This combination of technical guidance and targeted drills builds a reliable modern backhand that performs under pressure and improves rally stability. A simple yet highly effective coaching method used at Learn2PlayTennis to enhance long-term fundamentals.
