Hello everyone, we are excited to announce a 5-day Intensive & Therapeutic Iyengar Yoga Workshop with Drs. Abhay & Usha Keste, Senior Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers.

There are two aspects to the workshop :

One, is therapeutic engagement, where they will work with your specific body injuries and issues, to provide correction and alignment. This will provide you with a deeper understanding of your body as well as practices you can do on your own for a holistic journey to wellness.

Two, is the practise of Iyengar yoga, through body alignment and postures or asanas.

It would be best to participate in both workshops for a holistic and deep experience of this transformative yoga. However, either workshop is also complete in itself.

Practicing Ardhuttanasana (Half Forward Bend) with a chair can provide several benefits, including:

Stretching the hamstrings: Ardhuttanasana primarily targets the hamstrings, which are often tight due to prolonged sitting or sedentary lifestyles. Using a chair allows you to modify the pose and gradually work on lengthening and stretching the hamstrings without putting excessive strain on them.

Lengthening the spine: The forward fold in Ardhuttanasana helps to elongate the spine and release tension in the back muscles. The chair provides support, allowing you to focus on maintaining a long spine and avoiding excessive rounding.

Opening the shoulders and chest: Holding onto the backrest of the chair in Ardhuttanasana encourages the opening of the shoulders and chest, which can help counteract the effects of poor posture or desk work. This can improve overall posture and relieve upper back and shoulder tension.

Relieving stress and anxiety: The gentle forward folding motion combined with conscious breathing in Ardhuttanasana can help calm the mind, reduce stress, and alleviate anxiety. This pose promotes relaxation and a sense of grounding.

Improving digestion: The forward fold in Ardhuttanasana stimulates the abdominal area, potentially aiding digestion and relieving constipation. The gentle compression of the abdominal organs in the pose can also help improve overall digestive function.

Increasing blood circulation: As you fold forward in Ardhuttanasana, blood flow is directed towards the head, face, and upper body. This increased circulation can improve oxygen supply to the brain, enhance mental clarity, and rejuvenate the body.

Virabhadrasana III Variation 5
Entering from Urdhva Hastasana:

Virabhadrasana III (Warrior III Pose) offers several benefits for the body, mind, and overall well-being.

Strengthens the lower body:
Warrior III Pose engages and strengthens the muscles of the legs, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calf muscles. It helps develop stability, balance, and endurance in the lower body.

Increases body awareness:
Warrior III Pose encourages a deeper connection between mind and body. It promotes awareness of your body's alignment, breath, and sensations, helping you develop a greater understanding of how your body moves and functions.

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana and Viparita Dandasana Variations:

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana, also known as Upward-Facing Dog Pose, and Viparita Dandasana, also known as Inverted Staff Pose, are both invigorating and challenging yoga poses. While practicing these poses near a river, you can draw inspiration from the flowing water and find a sense of expansion and strength.

Feel the connection to the river:
As you lift your chest and open your heart, imagine the energy of the river flowing through you. Visualize the serenity and strength of the river within your own body and embrace the sense of flow and grace.

Breathe deeply and hold the pose:
Take deep, mindful breaths as you hold the pose, allowing your chest to expand with each inhale. Feel the gentle stretch in your abdomen, chest, and shoulders. Maintain the pose for a comfortable duration, listening to your body's needs.
