FINISH DAY!!!

Whilst we didn't quite get to have a go at taking on the road to Zuluk due to weather, our final day with Dahlly was amazing. We got to go to Aritar Lake, and take in the incredible views of Sikkim between Rongli and Gangtok where the finish line was.

3796 kilometres full of bumps, heat, sweat, swearing, oil and tears were completed on our crazy run across India, and all made possible by our little yellow cake tin on wheels. I am now convinced that they are the happiest mode of transport, and the best way to see a country. We met so many incredible humans and saw places you simply can't see on any other sort of trip.

But we're not done with India yet! Off to Bangalore for some cricket and hopefully some rest.

Swipe to see the finish line, some final day views and the 'shaws catching up in their mountain top bedroom for some well earned rest.

DAY 7!!!

Pretty hard to describe today, and the pictures really won't do it justice. Chhattisgarh has been an absolute hidden gem and this afternoon crossing the drylands in the tribal North was just unreal. Perfect road, perfect weather, the most hospitable people. Had one of the best curries of the trip from a that I wouldn't be able to find again if I tried (image 2) followed by absolutely jaw dropping scenery for the few hour drive into Baikunthpur. Cannot believe what we stumbled upon.

Day 4!!!

Another day of smashing kilometres out. You can see Rudyard Jr guiding us into Bhadrachalam, and if you swipe through, some of the people we met! Fuel stops meets, chai meets, samosa meets. Selfies are compulsory.

And everyone has the same question when we explain what we are doing, "Why?"

MEET THE DAHLINGS PT 2!!!

All Liam ( ) really brings to the team is his crappy facial hair that he is willing to shave in a silly way in the name of charity. Apart from that his main job is likely going to be the food tester so the mechanic doesn't get sick.

When he goes to other countries he ends up talking about it too much when he comes home and exaggerating his stories so that they sound cooler and people will think he's funny, so probably best to avoid him when he gets home in May.

His favourite Indian celebrity is Brett Lee and he controversially doesn't really like pappadums.

A REMINDER THAT YOU CAN MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE A BIT OF A TOOL FOR HIS WHOLE HOLIDAY BY DONATING TO !!!

MEET THE DAHLINGS!

This is Sam ( ).
He likes going to exotic places and looking a bit confused. He also likes to travel with those pants that zip off and become shorts. He's a mechanic, which will be invaluable to the team in India, a skill that is more useful than anything Liam is bringing.

His favourite thing to come from India is Keens curry powder because it actually comes from England.
He has been an environmental warrior since being in the St Francis of the Fields Environmental action team in grade 5.

Namaste Sam!

For those as into the environment and keeping the world habitable as Sam is you can donate to our campaign via the link in our bio!!!

Hello everyone and welcome to our page! Here we will document our stupid adventure and mishaps while in India on the 2023 April Rickshaw Run!

At the start of April, Sam and I are going to be attempting to drive an auto-rickshaw, from Fort Kochi in the South of India, around 3000km in 12 days to Gangtok, a town in the Himalayan foothills near the border of Bhutan.

We are trying to raise money for Cool Earth in the process, a charity that directly funds indigenous rainforest communities and helps them in their initiatives to protect and save rainforests, therefore combating climate change. The world is a pretty amazing place, as we think we will be able to show you over the coming months, and we reckon that it might be worth preserving so that future generations can go zipping around amazing locations in ridiculous modes of transport like we are going to do.

Please consider donating to our fundraising page below!
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/dontworrydahl

As a sweetener, I (Liam) have decided that the person who donates the most will get to choose how my facial hair gets trimmed/cut/styled when I leave. I'm not cutting it between now and the final styling, and it is already way too long and gross, so there should be a bit to play with (see image below).
It won't be touched while in India, and it'll just be left to grow out over our 3 weeks there.

Essentially, I am giving you the chance to ruin all of my holiday pictures, make me look like a tool and save the world. What a way to spend a crisp hundred dollar note.

Donations will be counted as cumulative, so feel free to start a bidding war. Syndicates are allowed, as long as all donations come in under the same name. No Charlie Chaplin moustaches for relatively obvious reasons, I'm not a fan of that moustaches work during the 40's. Highest donator as of 9pm Saturday the 1st of April will be the winner!

- Liam
