Grand Closing Ceremony of 3rd Chenab Open Taekwondo Championships 2026 Held at Doda

The 3rd Chenab Open Taekwondo Championships 2026 concluded with a grand closing ceremony today at the Indoor Sports Hall, Doda, marking the successful completion of a two-day sporting event that brought together around 400 young Taekwondo athletes representing 25 clubs affiliated with the J&K Taekwondo Association from across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The championship was organised by the Taekwondo Association of District Doda (TADD) under the aegis of the J&K Taekwondo Association (JKTA) and J&K Sports Council (JKSC).
Mohd Aslam, ASP, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest, while Tariq Ahmed, SHO Doda, Masood Zargar, AEE, PDD, and Dr. Moien Shapoo were present as distinguished guests, with Dr. Moien Shapoo as the Guest of Honour. Danish Manzoor, Fit India Brand Ambassador, was also present as a Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest congratulated the entire organising committee, technical officials, coaches, athletes and volunteers for successfully conducting a large-scale sporting championship at the district level. He appreciated the efforts being made to promote Taekwondo and sports among the youth and encouraged the athletes to continue working hard and represent Jammu & Kashmir with distinction at national and international competitions.
The championship was headed by Junaild Ali Khan, President, Taekwondo Association of District Doda, with Burhan Ud Din Khan, Secretary, TADD, Irfan Malik, Vice President, TADD, and Babar Mujahid, Joint Secretary, TADD, playing key roles in the organisation and successful conduct of the event.
The tournament was technically supervised by Shri Atul Pangotra, International Referee, serving as the Tournament Director. The technical and organising team comprising Brinder Singh Manhas, Muzamil Rashid Malik, Pankaj Spolia, Vipin Kumar, Pushap Thakur, Pankaj Kumar, Amit Kumar, Hashim Majid, Zain Nazir, Mohit Thakur, Vansh Rakwal, Sumit Kumar, Gunjan Kumari, Mohd Ashiq and Vaibah Abrol contributed significantly towards the smooth and professional conduct of the championship.
District-wise Overall Results
District Doda emerged as the Overall Champion, winning the Overall Trophy. District Jammu secured the Runner-up Trophy, while District Srinagar finished as the 2nd Runner-up.
The Active Participation Awards were jointly won by District Poonch and District Baramulla, while the Best Sportsman Spirit Awards were jointly awarded to District Udhampur and District Samba for displaying exemplary sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the championship.
A major highlight of the championship was the use of the PSS (Protective Scoring System), with all matches conducted through the electronic PSS system. The system ensured greater transparency, accuracy and professional standards in scoring and officiating.
On the occasion, Shri Rajesh Pangotra, President, J&K Taekwondo Association, and Shri Ramesh Chander Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Taekwondo Association, congratulated the organisers, technical officials, coaches and athletes for the successful conduct of the championship. They also appreciated the support extended by the Department of Youth Services & Sports for providing officials and extending cooperation for the smooth conduct of the event.
The successful conclusion of the 3rd Chenab Open Taekwondo Championships 2026 reflected the growing popularity of Taekwondo across Jammu & Kashmir and provided a valuable platform for young athletes to showcase their talent, discipline, sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
The organisers expressed their gratitude to all the guests, participating districts and clubs, coaches, referees, technical officials, volunteers, parents, supporters and the concerned departments for their valuable cooperation and contribution towards making the championship a grand success.
With the successful completion of the championship, the organisers reaffirmed their commitment to providing young Taekwondo athletes of Jammu & Kashmir with greater opportunities to compete, excel and represent the Union Territory at higher levels of competition.
