Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): Nagaland athletes Kevin and Avikali V Sheqi have qualified to represent India at the 10th Asian Senior Pencak Silat Championship 2026 to be held in D**g Nai Province, Vietnam, from July 15 to 23.

The International Pencak Silat Federation will organize the Indian National Referee-Jury Training Course 2026 from 16th to 19th May 2026 at Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir. The course will be led by Mdm. Titih Hayati, a highly respected International Pencak Silat technical expert known as Coach the Coaches from Indonesia. This prestigious program aims to strengthen the quality of refereeing and judging in India, promoting higher standards of fairness, discipline and excellence in Pencak Silat.

The formation of the Commonwealth Pencak Silat Federation (CWPSF) is a historic step in the global expansion of Pencak Silat. It will unite Commonwealth nations to promote the sport, create opportunities for athletes, coaches and officials and organize championships, seminars and exchange programs. This federation will strengthen friendship, sportsmanship and the future growth of Pencak Silat worldwide. Kudos to International Pencak Silat Federation.

Recently from Nagaland, the Coordinator and In-Charge for the North Eastern States for the game of Pencak Silat, Shri. Deep Kumar, along with Shri. Kuhoshe Sumi, Secretary of the North East Pencak Silat Federation visited Tripura as observers and representatives of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation (IPSF) to foresee the prospects of Pencak Silat in the state and assess its potential growth in various martial arts academies.

The Sports Authority of India Sports Training Centre in Dimapur held a self-defence training session under the women empowerment programme.
