I often wonder when we decided that a childโs mind was a vessel for data rather than a garden for the soul... It is a quiet tragedy !! Subconsciously, we lean toward the "star performers," forgetting that a high IQ is a fragile, lonely thing without a healthy EQ to guide it.
It pains me deeply to see learning without laughter, or a child afraid to admit, "I do not understand." Real learning requires the freedom to be unsure.
This is why we started Indradhanush. My team and I travel to the breathtaking mountains of Uttarakhand every month to meet young teachers in DIET colleges. For five days, we set aside the spreadsheets and dive into pedagogies and Mindfulness practices. We want these young educators to fall in love with learning themselves, to feel the rhythm of a child-centric classroom before they ever stand at the front of one.
