We tell our children to stand out. To be the “star performer.” Perfect grades. Perfect choices. Perfect futures.

But somewhere in that pursuit of raising the exclusive, we forgot how to raise the inclusive.

Today’s teens grew up through lockdowns, isolation, uncertainty, and constant comparison. Classrooms became screens. Friends became thumbnails. And just when the world reopened, we demanded answers:

“What’s the plan?”
“Which college?”
“What will you become?”

Fear of failure now sits quietly in every .

But children cannot grow where they are afraid to fail. Learning under judgment is not learning — it’s performance.

I see this during our sessions in . The moment children are given a safe space to express, the masks drop. They don’t talk about marks. They talk about fear. Fear of disappointing parents. Fear of not being “the best.”

And yet, in those quiet moments of listening and breathing together, something beautiful happens:
They realise they are not alone.

The “topper” and the struggling student sit together — not as competitors, but as human beings.

That is the environment we need to rebuild.

Because children grow best not in pressure, but in trust.
Where failure is feedback, not a verdict.
And where being human matters more than being exclusive.

The hard truth: when you raise a child to be exclusive, the learning is never non-judgmental. It can’t be. Because “exclusive” means comparison. It means a scoreboard.

I often wonder when we decided that a child’s mind was a vessel for data rather than a garden for the soul... We have drifted into a peculiar, somewhat clinical way of looking at , treating it as a "foundational course for life." 𝙊𝙪𝙧 #𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢𝙨, 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙤𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙤𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙣 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙗𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙮, 𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙮 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙤𝙛 #𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙘 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙖 𝙛𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢.

It is a quiet tragedy !! At time we see teachers nudged into a "manager" mindset, ticking off targets and comparing "100/100" scores as if they were quarterly profit margins. 𝙒𝙚 𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙙, "𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡" 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙮, "𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙" 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙖 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙜𝙜𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚.

Subconsciously, we lean toward the "star performers," forgetting that a high IQ is a fragile, lonely thing without a healthy EQ to guide it.

It pains me deeply to see learning without laughter, or a child afraid to admit, "I do not understand." Real learning requires the freedom to be unsure.

This is why we started Indradhanush. My team and I travel to the breathtaking mountains of Uttarakhand every month to meet young teachers in DIET colleges. For five days, we set aside the spreadsheets and dive into pedagogies and Mindfulness practices. We want these young educators to fall in love with learning themselves, to feel the rhythm of a child-centric classroom before they ever stand at the front of one.

For years, I believed was a marathon of endless doing a race to outpace uncertainty by simply working harder. I thought my value was measured by the volume of my voice in the room. But I discovered that the most profound impact doesn't come from the loudest command; it comes from the deepest !!
