It is a thing of great pride and honour for IIT Delhi that our former IIT Delhi Cricket team player , Piyush Kumbhare , is currently representing Japan National Cricket team 🏏.

Piyush Kumbhare played for IIT Delhi cricket team from 2009-2012. He is a bowling allrounder, bowling left arm spin and a handy batsman in lower order. He played crucial role in 3 Inter IIT Sports meet where IIT Delhi Cricket team won Gold 🥇 in 2009 and 2012 and Silver 🥈 in 2011.

Finding good things to focus on takes some creativity in quarantine, but there’s an obvious opportunity at home: that trove of photos and videos of vacations, outings, and celebrations that you’d never had time to go through. And what's better than relishing the most iconic moment in our IITD cricket's history: The Golden Dream of Hattrick of Golds.
So on the 9th anniversary of India's 2nd World Cup success, we are back with the second segment of our Inter IIT Diaries.

We will now be discussing the dominant performance of the team against IIT Ropar for a spot in the quarter finals.
Ruchit won the toss for the second time in the tournament and decided to bat first. Him along with Adarsh provided a tremendous start, taking complete advantage of the field restrictions. However, a string of poor shot selection followed by some tight bowling caused a mini collapse. While Ruchit scored a free flowing 30, Adarsh scored a steady 18. IITD couldn't take away much from the blistering start and went from 51/0 from 6 overs to 75/4. Masoom and Harry tried to steady the ship but IIT Ropar managed to clinch wickets at regular intervals. Valuable contributions from Narender and Venu helped IITD post 128/9 on the board.
IIT Ropar might have been very happy the way they managed to stop IITD's explosive batting lineup, they however, couldn't see that the IITD's bowlers had already planned their decimation.
IIT Ropar came up with a strategy to see off the new ball but just when IIT Ropar might have have thought the enduring phase is over, they didn't realise that it was just the silence before the storm. Introduction of Venu into the attack was the catalyst for the downfall and IIT Ropar crumbled from 20/0 to 22/5. They never recovered from this position as the spinners put brakes on the runrate while also clinching wickets. Prabhat, who grabbed 2 wickets, put the final nail in the coffin and IIT Ropar collapsed for just 62.
Venu, Harsh, Amit and Narender picked up 1 wicket each.
For his all round performance, Venu, who had brilliant figures of 3-1-6-1 was named the Man of the Match.

We are back with the first segment of the Inter IIT Diaries.
We kicked off the campaign against the minnows, IIT Tirupati, with both teams progressing to the pre quarters irrespective of the outcome of the match, as IIT Delhi, being the defending champions had been seeded.
Having won the toss, IIT Delhi elected to bat first. Captain Ruchit and Vice Captain Sagar did a splendid job scoring runs at will. The duo scored 41 runs apiece. Shubham, Chand and Masoom then took forward the proceedings and made sure the team capitalized on the start obtained. A strong finish by Masoom, who smashed 33 runs off just 17 balls meant IIT Delhi posted the tournament's highest total on the scoreboard.
Chasing 160 was always going to be an uphill task and given the strength of IIT Delhi's bowling line, it was too much for the opponent. IIT Tirupati opted for a slow and steady start, seeing off the new ball. But as soon as they thought they were getting back in the game, a super spell from Narender Reddy and a game changing over by Harsh made sure it was not a day for any major upset. Crucial contributions by Chand and Prabhat with the ball meant IIT Tirupati were left 32 runs short of the target.
Ruchit was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant innings of 41 runs off just 27 balls which included 4 fours and 2 gigantic sixes.

Champion is a state of mind. They are devoted. They compete to best themselves as much if not more than they compete to best others. Every champion was once a contender who refused to give up. Even after achieving the goal, he wants to stay at the top. Because this is what champions do: champions defend.
IIT Delhi cricket have stamped their authority over the trophy since 2017 Inter IIT and encrypted a new chapter in the History of the Inter IIT Sports Meet.
No great achievement is possible without persistent work. Our team showed us sky is the limit when you have your eyes set on nothing else than the bull's eye. To celebrate the hat-trick of championships, we introduce the 'Inter IIT Diaries', reliving all the matches and assessing each player's performance throughout the tournament.
