Shipki Laย is aย mountain passย and border post with a dozen buildings of significant size on theย India-Chinaย border. The riverย Sutlej, which is calledย Langqรชn Zangboย inย Tibet, enters India (from Tibet) near this pass.ย A spur road on the Indian side rises to an altitude of 4,720 metres (15,490ย ft)

For the first time since independence, Shipki-La, a motorable mountain pass bordering India and China in Himachalโ€™s tribal district of Kinnaur, has been opened for tourists.

Today, we successfully rescued two US citizens who were trekking with us to Churdhar. Due to a medical emergency, we had to evacuate them from Tesree. We express our gratitude to the American Embassy and the Indian Airforce for their invaluable assistance in this rescue operation.
