Blitz CC won its first tournament match yesterday. A close fought game on a tough wicket but we came through in the end against Silver Sharks

Silver Sharks 115/8 in 24 overs ( Sathyan Velumani 4 overs 15/1, TG Ashwin Narayanan 5 overs 14/2, Arvvind Srivats 5 overs 34/3) lost to Blitz CC 116/7 in 19.4 overs ( Ashwin 23, Harish 22, Siva Kirubanandhan 18*).

Blitz CC restarted cricket after close to a one-year break with an inter-Blitz practice match. We had close to 26 players who played this hard-fought high-intensity game. In the end, Blitz A just got past the finish line by 10 runs. Today, we are starting our first tournament match for 2021. 🙌🙌

Blitz CC provided a clinical display of all-round cricket to beat Nemesis by 37 runs in the tournament game which puts us on top of the group with 4 more games to go ( Top 2 qualify for the finals). We scored 178 in 22 overs with the top 6 all contributing to the cause with double-digit scores and a 50 from the stylish leftie, Ajith Kumar. Despite Nemesis getting off to a brisk start, the spin duo of TG Ashwin Narayanan and Arvvind Srivats brought us back into the game with tight spells and creating ample questions for the batsmen with the variations in lengths, and speed. Vevek Seetharaman did the crucial job of cleaning the tail to close the game out bagging 3 wickets.

Riding on another 50 from the captain, Vevek Seetharaman, Blitz CC cruised to a win against vvs. Handy contributions from Suntosh and Sathyan helped boost the total to above par. Our Left-arm Fast bowler Ram and our leggie Arvy fired with the ball with a 3 and 4 wicket haul respectively to create inroads consistently. Good win boys.

This week, we played a 30 overs practice match against Falcons at QMC A. We were set a stiff target of 189 in 30 overs. Our top order duo of Arvind Kumar & Suntosh Sivan scored the 50s at a brisk pace to set up the tempo (99 run partnership). The middle-order then came up with the run rate at a little over a run a ball to wrap up the chase, handy contributions from Abhishek & Mukund. The silent assassin and the spine of our team, Suntosh deservedly wins the Man of the Match.
