Today was the bib distribution for the 21K, 11K, and the 60K Dhauladhar Ultra. The first two races would allow road runners to test their mettle and see how they fare on elevated roads with a sprinkle of trail here and there. At the same time, the Dhauladhar Ultra allured seasoned marathoners aiming for a PB, with 60K being “just” 18 km more than a full marathon. While some were making bold claims, others stayed rather reserved. Because honestly, there’s a reason we’ve kept the cutoff for the first 22 km at a whopping 5 hours, a timing that may sound strange to marathoners, but is also a very calculated one. The climb itself would sap the energy out of runners, and the remaining 40-odd kilometres to Barot will be run purely on willpower. But yes, we remain hopeful of stellar performances at the inaugural edition of the Dhauladhar Ultra, along with the other short-distance races tomorrow. See you at the landing site.
