This year, BhuFeSto had a Comic Focus. We got the best stand up comics in the state to tell stories to children. Not only did all of them get together at IG Park on 1 day, they told stories at the different parks on the different days.

One of the biggest hits was Riten Pattnaik, comedy sensation and founder of Komedy Countdown Odisha (KCO), who stepped into new territory at BhuFeSto with his debut performance for children. With his trademark wit and charm, he effortlessly entertained the young audience, proving his versatility as a comedian and leaving a memorable mark on the event.

Puppetry has always been a big hit with both children and adults at BhuFeSto and otherwise. This year, Basanta Sahu, the retired Headmaster and puppetry maestro, wove a tapestry of wonder at Bhufesto. He had been associated with Bakul Foundation for over 13 years conducting workshops on puppetry with children, and he had often created awareness programmes for the Government using puppets.

But he made his debut in telling stories using puppets at BhuFeSto 2024. He enchanted audiences with mesmerizing puppetry performances. Particularly touching was the awe of blind and deaf children, who experienced the magic through touch and imagination, proving the universal power of storytelling.

A powerhouse of energy, Santakar enraptured audiences at BhuFeSto 2024 with his power packed performances, which saw him dancing and becoming a child among children.

Saswati Nanda Satpathy, the beacon of early literacy and storytelling brilliance, shone as a true story hero at Bhufesto.

An early literacy specialist, a freelance teacher, and importantly, a passionate storyteller, she claims to be always on vacation because she loves her occupation! She was the regular host of BAKUL’s very popular online storytelling series, “Rabibaar Gapabaar”.
It was her first performance at BhuFeSto, which she took by storm with her enchanting narratives and unwavering passion, and captivated hearts and minds alike. Her performances were journeys of joy and learning, making every listening experience an unforgettable adventure.

Tapaswini Panda, teacher at Mothers Public School, has been a loved storyteller to her students. At BhuFeSto, she became a much loved storyteller for children of all the schools.

A veteran educator and versatile artist, Tapaswini mesmerized at Bhufesto with her captivating storytelling. Despite her novice status in the field, her performance exuded seasoned charm and mastery.

With each tale, she transported the audience into boundless realms of imagination, leaving an indelible mark. Tapaswini's multifaceted talent, spanning literature, painting, crafting, and poetry, showcased a depth that belied her newcomer status, captivating hearts and minds alike.

Sabita Patnaik, who has been an active volunteer of Bakul Foundation for the longest period since 2009 started her volunteering at Bakul by telling stories at the Bakul Library on Sundays. But she had started telling stories at her pre-school before that.

A well-known educationist and social worker, who runs two pre-schools, Kidzz Bloomingdale's Preschool for middle class children and Bugin Ha for tribal children, Sabita Patnaik knows how to engage children from different backgrounds.

Swagatika Sethi, a volunteer at Bakul Foundation for 10 years now has been a versatile leader in community mobilization, women empowerment, and education. The Editor of Bakul Books, Swagatika has been a prolific writer and her influence spans creative writing, crafts, storytelling, and theater. A teacher of design, she has also been a regular storyteller at the Bakul Library.

The biggest celebrity among all the storytellers in BhuFeSto 2024 was undoubtedly Kuna Tripathy , one of the most well-known faces of Odia television and cinema, and the OFDC Chairman, is known to keep audiences engaged and enthralled for hours with his storytelling and ventriloquism.
At Bhufesto 2024 just as in 2023, Kuna Tripathy, the embodiment of Odia culture, graced the stage with his mesmerizing performance. He seamlessly blended literature, stage plays, and social service, captivating audiences with his profound portrayal of Jagannath culture. Kuna's presence was a shining tribute to the rich tapestry of Odia tradition, leaving an indelible mark on the festival.

Hriday Ranjan, a famous stand-up comic based in Hyderabad and one of the first Bakul volunteers, has always been a big hit with children and adults alike. He hated children before he started volunteering with Bakul in 2008, and now children hate it when he stops his performance.
It is because of his success in telling humorous stories at BhuFeSto in 2023 that we decided to have a Special Focus on Comic Storytelling at BhuFeSto 2024 and brought in other comics as well.
The comic virtuoso, brought his unique blend of humor and storytelling to Bhufesto, weaving tales in Odia that left audiences in stitches. With his mastery of comedy, he transformed ordinary anecdotes into uproarious adventures, captivating hearts and minds alike. Meera Das, one of the most well-known storytellers of Odisha, began her journey as a professional storyteller after the first edition of BhuFeSto. She has also worked as a Kindergarten teacher in International Schools for 15 years and also in the field of Social Research before finding her calling in storytelling. As the founder of Kathasagar Charitable Trust, her mission has also been to promote cultural richness resonated deeply, sparking joy and igniting imaginations.

A trained glider pilot, she sails gracefully to new heights with each storytelling performance. Meera enrichened Bhufesto 2024 with her enchanting tales and boundless charisma. Meera's captivating presence on stage held the audience spellbound, engaging them in a mesmerizing journey of storytelling and cultural exploration.

With over 15 years of experience in early childhood education, her passion for storytelling and culinary arts converged in a delightful performance. Serving treats in the form of culinary tales, Saswati crafted a sensory symphony, captivating the audience with her unique blend of words and recipes. Her performance was a flavorful journey that left hearts and taste buds tingling with delight.

A bundle of energy, both in BhuFeSto 2023 and 2024, she managed to tell stories and keep the audience energized through her emceeing through the entire day for all the days.
