After the success of Colosseum 11 and 12, we are pleased to announce that the events of last 2 years have given us the impetus to continue active participation of various colleges and universities in sports and hence the launching of COLOSSEUM'13. The campus, equipped with state of the art sport facilities of Badminton courts, basket ball courts, Football field and Volleyball courts is all set to

set the dais of sporting extravaganza ablaze, this Oct. 2013. With an exciting line-up of sporting clashes coupled with additional special events, ‘Colosseum'13’ promises to take the notch of sheer sporting talent a notch higher. For 2 years in succession our institute hosted the event under flood lights which has been a grand success. Of students participating in these events were around 1200 and there was a crowd of around 4000 people for almost all the matches of football, basket ball and volleyball . whereas Badminton and table tennis generated a crowd of around 700 people .For the finals, there were in total around 6000 spectators for football, basketball and volleyball matches.

BADMINTON

RULES

BOYS

• Team events to be conducted.
• At least 4 players required and maximum 5.
• Teams having less than 4 players will be disqualified.
• The sequence of a team game is as follows:
• 1st match: 1st singles
• 2nd match: 2nd singles
• 3rd match : First Doubles
• 4th match : Second Doubles (if required)
• 5rd match: Reverse singles (if required)
• Each match is best of three games, 21 points each.
• Aganst a team, a player cannot play more than 2 matches(not both singles).
• New IBF rules will be followed.
• Referee decisions will be final and the organizing committee hold the rights to disallow a player from playing further.

GIRLS

• Team events to be conducted.
• At least 3 players required and maximum 5.
• Teams having less than 3 players will be disqualified.
• The sequence of a team game is as follows:
• 1st match: 1st singles
• 2nd match: 2nd singles
• 3rd match : Doubles
• Each match is best of three games, 21 points each.
• Against a team, only one player can play 2 matches (not both singles).
• New IBF rules will be followed.

TABLETENNIS

RULES

1] A college team can have 3+1 (4 maximum) players.

2] The team event will be played according to the A B C- X Y Z format.

3] If the match is not decided in 3 games, reverse singles will be played.

4] All the games will be best of 5 (11 points).

5] Standard ITTF rules will be followed.

VOLLEYBALL

THE SERVE

1] Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact

2] Ball may be served underhand or overhand

3] Ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve

4] Served ball may graze the net and drop to theother side for point

5] First game serve is determined by a volley, each subsequent game shall be served by the previous game loser

6] Serve must be returned by a bump only. no setting or attacking a serve

SCORING

1] Rally scoring will be used.

2] There will be a point scored on every score of the ball.

3] Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.

4] Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net.

5] Game will be played to 25 pts.

6] Must win by 2 points.

7] Game will be played for 3 sets, finals for 5 sets.

ROTATION

1] Team will rotate each time they win the serve

2] Players shall rotate in a clockwise manner

3] There shall be 6 players on each side.

PLAYING THE GAME

1] Maximum of three hits per side

2] Player may not hit the ball twice in succession (A block is not considered a hit)

3] Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on serve

4] A ball touching a boundary line is good

5] A legal hit is contact with the ball by a player body above and including the waist which does not allow the ball to visibly come to a rest

6] If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play

7] A player must not block or attack a serve

8] Switching positions will be allowed only between front line players. ( After the serve only )

BASIC VIOLATIONS

1] Stepping on or over the line on a serve

2] Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully

3] Hitting the ball illegally ( carrying, palming, throwing, etc. )

4] Touches of the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play. If the ball is driven into the net with such force that it causes the net to contact an opposing player, no foul will be called, and the ball shall continue to be in play

5] Reaching over the net, except under these conditions a) When executing a follow-through b) When blocking a ball which is in the opponents court but is being returned ( the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact). Except to block the third play
Reaches under the net ( if it interferes with the ball or opposing player )

6] Failure to serve in the correct order

7] Blocks or spikes from a position which is clearly not behind the 10-foot line while in a back row position

THE COURT

1] Both indoor and outdoor courts are 18 m x 9 m

2] NET HEIGHT

3] Net height is 2.43 meters

Rules for BASKETBALL as Follows:
1] FIBA rules applicable.

2] 10 minutes each quarter with 2 minute break between the quarters and 5 minutes at half time.

3] Teams should report to the basket ball court half an hour before their match.

4] All the players of the team should have same colour of jersey with printed numbers.

5] Use of abusive or foul language during the play can lead to technical fouls or expulsion depending on the referee and the organizing committee.

6] No players should have anything on his/her hand or neck (wrist watch, necklace, ring, kada, bracelet etc.) jewellery of any kind is not allowed and nails have to be cut.

7] The notice for the next match will be given a day before. The minimum time to give a notice before the match is 1 hr.(in emergency).

8] Decision of the referee and the organizing committee is final.

9] Min Number of players in men’s/women’s team : 5

Rules for FOOTBALL as Follows:
1] Maximum number of players allowed per team = 18. A Minimum of 11 should register to participate.

2]You need to show your fee receipts during the registration. Failure to do so will result in the player not allowed to play in any of the matches.

3] All the matches must be played by the 18 registered players only.

4] The pools and the fixtures will be drawn by the organizing committee (this will be done after all teams have registered).

5] Every team should be present at least 20 mins before the scheduled starting time of the match, failing which a walkover will be given to the opposing team.

6] In case a team gets a walkover, it wins the match by a default 3-0 scoreline..

7] In case of a tie between two teams, penalty shoot-out will decide the winner. Penalty shoot-out has 5 penalties and then sudden death if required..

8] Each team will be allowed to make a maximum of 5 substitutions per match.

9] A player who receives a red card or two yellow cards in a match will be suspended for the ongoing match as well as next match.
