- 1...Rxe2 2.Qg7 #
- 1...gxf5 loses the queen after 2.Rg3

In the game Black tried 1...f6, but after 2.Rxe4 Rxe4 3.h4! Qh5 4.g4! Rxg4 (4...Qxg4 5.Nh6+ fork) 5.Ne7+ followed by Qxf6 lead to a checkmate.
