More is not always better. Better is better. If your push day consists of 6 different chest variations, you’re likely just swimming in “junk volume.”
Your muscles don’t care how many different machines you mapped out in your notes app. They only recognize one thing: mechanical tension.
Doing 20 mediocre, half-hearted sets won’t force growth. Instead, pick 2-3 solid compound movements and push them dangerously close to absolute failure. Those last few grueling reps—the “effective reps”—are the only ones that actually trigger muscle building and hypertrophy.
I’ve spent the last several months putting his to the test with quiet, consistent work in the gym. Stripping away the fluff and focusing purely on intensity changes everything. Stop working out just to get tired, and start training to grow.
