Yuvraj Singh, famous for hitting 6 sixes against Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup, is a left-handed Indian international cricketer who has played all forms of the game since his debut in 2000, after winning the u19 World Cup. He played a significant role in the victory for Indian cricket team in T20 & ODI World Cups and subsequently became the Man of the Series in both occasions. He is also the recipient of the Padma Shri and the Arjuna Award.
In 2011, Yuvraj was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his left lung and underwent chemotherapy treatment in Boston and Indianapolis. In March 2012, he completed the final cycle of chemotherapy and returned to India in April. He made his international comeback in a Twenty20 match in September against New Zealand shortly before the 2012 World Twenty20.
This Origins Cup, we pay tribute to this champion performer for Team India who has also fought the biggest battle of life by successfully recovering from cancer. He has proved to be the ultimate match winner as he fought it through with his sheer determination and positive attitude. His immense courage and self belief has been an inspiring story to world at large.

Primary Sport: Football

Sports is something that I love, it taught me discipline and the value of patience in life. I play all the sports and also follow almost every sport. Sports has taught me how crucial and important teamwork is in a game and we employ this learning in all our day-to-day situations. The first sport I ever played was cricket because of the sheer importance our country gives to the sport. Every child in every nook and corner plays this sport. Sports has taught me that the more we toil, the higher we rise.

Nikita Sagade
Primary Sport: Chess

Everyone who plays any sport knows it’s more than just a game, more than just a hobby and more than just a pass time that people do. The philosophy and emotions associated with sports makes it my life. The qualities and lessons learned while on court/field have helped me explore myself. I believe sports is more about teamwork. It doesn’t matter who is on my team. A good team is one who actually respects the members in the team and possess’ the motivation to go all the way. Every sportsperson knows that it is more than just a game. I believe sports is about learning who a person really is. One game can tell you more about a person than anyone can imagine. Bonding becomes a huge part and you can see the cohesiveness. Just one quick pick up game will tell me about a person’s life. One’s perception of self, their individuality, eagerness and willingness are what I learn within the first few minutes of playing with someone. As the sport goes on, I learn many things about that individual and choices they make in life. Sports gives hope to the lost. I believe it is a get away from the difficult things in life. Anytime I feel stressed or need to get away, I turn to sports. It helps me believe in myself and I can take my mind off anything while I’m playing. All you have on the court/field is yourself and your team nothing else is needed. For hours your mind isn’t focused on anything other than the game. It can solve difficulties and problems between people. It has skills, compromises and opportunities. It makes me realize who I really am as a person in this world. Sports helps me understand others and their choices. "The game of basketball has been everything to me. My place of refuge, place I've always gone where I needed comfort and peace. It's been the site of intense pain and the most intense feelings of joy and satisfaction. It's a relationship that has evolved over time, given me the greatest respect and love for the game." Quoted by Michael Jordan | Belongs to every true Basketballer by heart!

Primary Sport: Football

Sports inspires me to compete. Winning over losing is much more sweet. I do it because I love the game. Life without sports would not be the same. Sports brings out my inner drive, to make the play, I often dive. I sacrifice everything for my team, because a championship is my only dream.
