Karnataka Cyclists Dominate National Mountain Bike Championships
Morni Hills, Panchkula, Haryana, India – Karnataka’s cycling team delivered an outstanding performance at the 21st National Mountain Bike Cycling Championship, clinching multiple medals across various categories. The state’s young and elite cyclists showcased exceptional talent, endurance, and determination, securing Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals.
Sub Junior Boys U16
Dhanush Prasanth became a *Double Gold National Champion*, winning both the Cross-Country Time Trial (XCT) and Cross-Country Olympic (XCO) events. He secured gold in XCT with *24:40.364* and won XCO in *50:48.815*. Rehaan Roshan claimed bronze in XCT with *27:05.763*.
Sub Junior Girls U16
Nithila Das dominated this category, earning two gold medals in XCT (*32:39.317*) and XCO (*48:47.067*), making her a *Double Gold National Champion*. Kiana Baruah secured bronze in XCT (*36:43.493*).
Women Junior U18
Pavitra Kurtakoti delivered a stellar performance, winning *Three gold medals* in XCT (*39:59.419*), XCO (*1:21:48*), and the Junior Mixed Team Relay. She was named *Best Cyclist* and *Triple Gold National Champion*.
Men Junior U18 & U23
Dhananjay ST secured silver in Men Junior U18 XCT (*27:06.728*). In Men U23 XCO, Charith Gowda claimed *gold* with *1:24:20*.
Women Elite
Star Narzary won *three golds* in XCT (*34:17.625*), XCO (*1:50:26*), and the *Elite Mixed Team Relay*, earning the *Best Cyclist Award*.
Team Relay & Downhill
The Junior Mixed Team Relay saw Karnataka’s Dhananjay ST, Birappa Navali, Pavitra Kurtakoti, and Nagasiri HN clinch gold in *1:15:32*. In the Elite Mixed Team Relay, Star Narzary, Vyshakh KV, Charith Gowda, and Karen Marshall secured gold in *1:06:59*. Samarpan Jain won gold in Men Junior DH (*4:02.040*).
Karnataka’s phenomenal performance highlights the state’s commitment to cycling excellence. Years of rigorous training at Jarkabande Kawal Tree Park (Avalahalli State Forest) have shaped these athletes. We are proud to announce that four riders—Star Narzary, Charith Gowda, Dhananjay ST, and Kiana Baruah—have been selected to represent India at the upcoming Asian MTB Championships, China this month.
