This is a small glimpse from my Baladi performance at our Belly Dance Hafla ✨

It’s a different feeling I tap into when I perform styles like Baladi, Mejance and Classical Egyptian.

Baladi a word that means local, native, from the homeland. One of the things I love most about this style is how grounded, earthy, playful and emotional it feels.
Baladi isn’t about performing to the music, but becoming a part of it.

Traditionally rooted in improvisation, it is about listening closely and responding to every phrase, every accent and every conversation between the instruments ✨

Bellydance Hafla Goa 2.0 ✨
Drum Solo performance by my Level 2 Beginners Batch 🤍

This beautiful batch of women have been training with me for the last four months and if there’s one thing that stands out, it’s their consistency. They showed up, put in the work, trusted the process and continued learning even when things got challenging.

One of the things I appreciate most about this batch is their genuine passion to learn.
Seeing them progress from where they started to now confidently performing a drum solo together has been incredibly fulfilling to watch as a teacher. It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t come from talent alone, but from showing up again and again.

So proud of each one of them for their dedication, commitment and love for this art form🥹🙌

Bellydance Hafla Goa 2.0 😍
Drum Solo performance by my Beginners Bellydance Level 1 batch ✨

This batch has such a versatile mix of people from completely different professional backgrounds from musician, teacher, architect, etc.. They all are managing full-time jobs and schedules, yet still showing up every week with so much commitment towards learning🤍

Most of them had never performed before and still managed to learn an entire drum solo choreography within a short span of time and they did such an amazing job🫰🏼

Bellydance is a very challenging dance form, especially when it comes to isolations and technique, which makes it even more fulfilling to watch students who have never danced before slowly pick it up and perform an entire choreography with confidence🥹

Really really proud of this batch for showing up and not giving up on themselves through the process, shinning through these choreographies now ✨

Started doing these Hafla series for my students here in Goa after they complete every level. As they could experience what it feels like to dance outside of class, perform together, just enjoy the process as a group & community 🤍

Do you know what a Hafla is & what happens in it?

“Hafla” is an Arabic word meaning a party or social gathering. In the Bellydance world, it’s an event where students, professionals and people who simply love the art form come together to perform for each other, dance together, cheer each other on and celebrate the art form as a community.

Haflas are friendly, informal and supportive. Not about perfection, pressure or putting up a polished production. It’s about creating an encouraging space where dancers of all levels can perform, express themselves and slowly grow more confident through the experience.

And honestly, that’s exactly what I wanted to create here too. Really proud of all my girls for showing up and doing this together ✨
