Though he doesn't have a string of Superseries titles to his name, it would only be fair to say that he was the most consistent Indian player on the circuit.

Good footwork helps you remain balanced while you hit the shuttlecock. Staying balanced affords you the best control of your shot.

In particular, all players should learn a good "lunge technique."

Posture - Use a forehand grip, stand with the weight on backfoot. hold the shuttle in front of you.

Serve - High serve has a larger swing. The early part of the swing, racket travels well out behind you and swings through in a wide arc, passing below the level of your knees and coming upwards to strike the shuttlecock from below with a low contact point. Give the shuttlecock time to fall. Drop, wait, hit. Drop the shuttlecock into the racket’s path and in front of you.

Hit the shuttlecock as high as possible. The advantage is the trajectory. A good high serve travels upwards almost to the back of the court; then the shuttlecock turns and falls almost vertically down into the back tramlines.
