OFFICIAL STATEMENT | DCCI
In the interest of transparency, athlete welfare, and the integrity of differently abled cricket, DCCI places on record that the Sri Lanka Cricket Association for Physically Challenged (SLCAPC)—a body recognized under the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) structure of Sri Lanka—has, through official written correspondence, unequivocally confirmed that the Indo–Lanka Friendship Cup 2026 was organized as a club-level goodwill series and not as an official international bilateral series between India and Sri Lanka.
The correspondence further clarifies that the participating teams were not national teams representing their respective countries and that the event was never sanctioned, recognized, or approved as an official India vs Sri Lanka international series.
DCCI reiterates that representation of India in any international differently abled cricket event can only occur through duly authorized and recognized selection pathways. Participation in overseas events without DCCI approval cannot be construed as official national representation, irrespective of the terminology, uniforms, promotional material, or public statements used.
DCCI remains committed to safeguarding the interests of genuine athletes, protecting classification integrity, and ensuring that every deserving player receives opportunities through merit and recognized governance systems.
Fair Play. Transparency. Accountability. Athlete Welfare.
The future of differently abled cricket must be built on recognized pathways, not parallel structures that create confusion regarding national representation and eligibility.
