Most people see kata as a sequence of movements, we see it as principles in motion.
Every kata we practice is built on 4 foundations:
1. Mind : Develop the right mindset before every movement. Awareness, focus, and fighting spirit shape your kata.
2. Movement : Correct distance, line of movement, and rhythm give every technique purpose and precision.
3. Ex*****on : Breathing, decisive focus, and spirit unite to bring each technique to life.
4. Understanding : Go beyond performance. Discover the application, the underlying principles, and how to control the encounter.
These four foundations are represented through the 12 Principles of Kata. They don't just improve how your kata looks, they transform how you understand and perform it.
Which of these 4 foundations or Principles do you believe is most overlooked in karate training?
