What a gripping encounter we witnessed today in the One Village T20 League organized by the Mattan Cricket Association, where individual brilliance and composure under pressure defined the outcome of the game.
After winning the toss, Paibugh 11 elected to bat first, looking to put runs on the board on what appeared to be a slow and slightly tricky surface. However, the decision didn’t quite unfold as planned. The pitch offered variable pace, making stroke play difficult, and the batting unit struggled to build sustained partnerships. Despite a fighting effort, Paibugh 11 were bundled out for a modest total of 127 runs.
Among the batters, Ganie Abid stood out with a composed 34 runs, showing intent and resilience, while Faisal chipped in with a valuable 23 runs. However, the lack of support from the middle and lower order meant they couldn’t capitalize further.
On the bowling front, it was a disciplined and clinical performance from ZSM Krangsoo. The star of the innings was undoubtedly Ishfaq Bhat, who delivered a match-defining spell, scalping 3 crucial wickets and consistently troubling the batters with his accuracy and variations. He was well supported by Shabir, who picked up 2 wickets, while Jamid Lefty, Basharat, and Bhat Rayees contributed with one wicket each, ensuring Paibugh 11 never gained momentum.
The chase, however, didn’t begin smoothly for ZSM Krangsoo. The pressure of a tricky surface was evident early on as they lost three quick wickets Jamid Lefty, Afrooz, and Adil Gul putting the team in a precarious position.
At that crucial juncture, the match witnessed a remarkable turnaround, led by the calmness and class of Ishfaq Usuf and DV Umar. What followed was a masterclass in controlled batting and temperament. DV Umar showcasing exceptional technique and maturity, played a sublime unbeaten knock of 47 runs. On a pitch that was slow and testing, his ability to read the conditions, rotate strike, and find boundaries at the right moments stood out. He looked completely in control, timing the ball beautifully and anchoring the innings with confidence.
Alongside him, Ishfaq displayed immense composure and determination. His unbeaten 46 runs was a testament to his all-round capability. Holding his nerve under pressure, he built the innings patiently, ensuring no further wickets fell, and guided the chase with maturity.
