Jaigoan Football Club mourns the demise of Mizo footballer Sama Hnamte.
May the departed soul Rest In Peace.
Sama Hnamte, a former Mizoram footballer, passed away on Friday morning in Kanan Veng, Aizawl, at the age of 38. He was admitted to a city hospital on Thursday night after experiencing head ache and dizziness, but regrettably died the next morning.
His wife and two daughters are his survivors. When Mizoram won the U-16 National Championship in 2003, Sama was a key player, alsoet the vice-captain at that time. Sama was then selected for the national sub-junior team and had the opportunity to practise in Leicester.
His death cast a veil over the state's football community, and sports minister Robert Romawia Royte was among those who were shocked by his sudden passing."Deeply saddened to learn the passing of former Mizoram team and Mizoram Police FC player- Sama Hnamte. One among the few versatile players in the state, Sama was one of the best football players that the state has ever seen. May his soul rest in peace,” Royte tweeted.
