Ahmedabad City Tennis Foundation (ACTF) was formed in
September 1986, with an aim to provide tennis infrastructure to the game lovers and youth of the vibrant city of Ahmedabad. It started as 2 clay courts now boasts of 9 synthetic hard courts four of which are floodlit. ACTF is located in Navrangpura in the heart of western Ahmedabad surrounded by other sports facilities such as Sardar Patel Cricket Stadium, Municipal Swimming Pool and the Sports Club of Gujarat. All around is a predominately residential area. The complex has sufficient parking space and open areas around, which can be used for fitness exercises for the players. ACTF runs a tennis development programme where about 200 players start with learning the basics of the game, they further progress into players who go on to take part in National and even International tournament. Parents play an important role in any progress of the child, it is therefore necessary to involve them in the child’s progress in the game and bring about awareness regarding various facets of the game. Young and deserving children with financially weak background are helped with scholarships so that the child does not suffer due to lack of funds. It was the far reaching vision of Shri Chintan Parikh President, ACTF followed by work of Shri Bharat Chokshi Secretary ACTF and his team that has brought ACTF with modern facilities for tennis to the International level as we see and enjoy presently. Plans for near future will see building of a stadium complex with players’ lounge, a residential club house, a gymnasium and a restaurant. The organisation also conducts 8 to 10 tournament for all age groups for boys and girls they are either state level games but mostly National level games conducted under the auspices of AITA. Few years back in 2006 an ITF Women’s US 10,000 $ tournament was hosted by ACTF. ACTF also helps in conduct annual games for nos of government organisations and schools. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has played a key role in establishment of ACTF as we see it today, it continues to help the organisation to take it to new heights. CURRENT OFFICE BEARERS:
