Same pose. Two versions.

One of these is way harder than it looks.

Comment 1 or 2 — which one do you think is tougher?

She doesn't meat hook. She doesn't windmill. And she still lands a clean hip key.

My student found her own way into a hip key — inverts from a Russian climb, kicks it over her leg, and drops straight into the key. No windmill, no traditional meat hook entry.

I filmed it because I needed to actually study what she was doing. Not to fix it. To understand it.

I don't teach this as the standard entry. But I'm not correcting it out of her either.

Have any of your students ever reinvented a basic without meaning to? Tell me the skill below 👇

Five girls in the air. Five splits dropping at the same time.

Except one — she's a beat behind, and honestly that's my favorite part of the clip. Watch her catch up and land it just as clean as everyone else.

This is rehearsal for our end of season show. Not the polished final version — the real work, under our studio lights, in front of that black curtain, getting it right one more time before showtime.

This is what months of training looks like when it comes together.

This is my favorite way to spin. Not because it looks good. Because it's cheating physics.

Most spins, you're holding on for dear life, praying centripetal force doesn't fling you off.

This one's different. You're actually in a mobile position — the fabric is supporting you as you turn, not just your grip. Less strength required, more control, and the line still looks incredible.

Physics is fun. Fight me on this.

If you teach this spin, do your students know they're being supported, or do they think it's all grip strength? Tell me below 👇

Warm up. Strength. Technique. Trip training. Show prep. And then — pretend skydiving.

Watch this 👇

This is what the last five minutes of class look like when the real work is done.

Grade 1 and 2 girls, laying on their stomachs in the hammocks, hands connected, making a star in the air. It looks like they're skydiving. It sounds like a playground.

This isn't the "fun class" — it's the disciplined one. We hit every level before we get here: warm up, strength, technique, trip training, show training. The screeching only happens because everything else already happened.

If your class is only fun, kids get bored fast. If it's only structure, they burn out. You need both — and the fun has to be earned, not the whole plan.

What's your "cherry on top" moment at the end of class? Drop it below 👇

My aerial students are always shocked when I tell them I used to teach yoga.

Years ago I thought yoga was something I could keep doing as I got older. So I trained to become an instructor.

Then I caught myself being a total hypocrite.

I was telling a room to calm their mind while mine was running a mile a minute. Telling people not to compare themselves to others while I was quietly trying to out-perform every teacher I'd ever had.

That's when it clicked: I don't have the head of a yoga instructor. I want to be hyper. I want to show off. And I'm done apologizing for it.

That's why aerial fits me instead — and why I plan on doing it well into my later years.

Everyone has one of these. A thing you tried because it looked responsible, or age-appropriate, or like the "smart" long-term choice — and it just wasn't you.

What's yours? Tell me in the comments.

There's a mom in the crowd right now, filming her daughter mid-pose, phone shaking a little because she's smiling too hard to hold it steady.

That's one kind of proud.

Here's the other kind — mine. I'm standing off to the side watching a kid who couldn't hold that shape in September own it in front of a full room. Smile out to the audience, not the coach. That's the whole point.

We spend a season correcting grip, alignment, nerves. Then one night, they walk out and don't need us at all. That's not a loss. That's the job working.

Watching your bird fly is proud. Watching them leave the nest mid-performance and land it? That's a different feeling entirely.

Coaches — comment "NEST" if you've felt this too.
