How is a burnout?
In more detail, I divided this phenomenon into stages. In my life, I've been blessed to go through the final burnout phase and gain a huge experience from it. And even increase the resource.
The good news is that even the worst condition can be turned into a starting platform. Although it is better to stay in the field of your awareness and not to choose the bottom of your suffering. So...
Honeymoon
Everything in life is good.
A state of euphoria, maximum engagement, everything is very interesting and causes delight. Current. Maximum concentration, distractions are difficult.
A person has "shine in his eyes", elevated mood, energy. If someone asks, "What do you do now?" ", you can get a long inspired monologue about the details of what is happening on the project / in life.
But suddenly, at some point, motivation from "I want" and "I fly" turns into "I need to."
Out of energy
Laziness appears, deviation from important matters and tasks begins. Postponing it for later. Procrastination is the blossom of it
There is still a lot of strength, but the feeling of fatigue and tension is increasing, there may be a feeling of background anxiety and concentration of thoughts. It is especially bad if negative thoughts begin to wedge, it drains a considerable part of the resource.
Switching between tasks becomes more difficult and tedious, gradually increases the feeling of anger towards something/who distracts.
There is "stuck" on some processes, especially on the sources of "light" dopamine - social networks, YouTube, movies. And, the switch to them happens often unnoticed to yourself, and it is very difficult to dive in afterwards, there is not enough impulse to switch.
Chronic fatigue
Procrastination on the rise, problems focusing. Attention is distracted, it is difficult not only to switch between tasks and contexts, but also to focus on one task. Attention is all messed up.
Somatization begins: runny nose, mild colds, immunity decreases.
Sleep may be disturbed (fall asleep) or, on the contrary, the villager sleeps a lot. But the result is one - feeling chronic fatigue.
Getting irritated , getting heated . There is a sense of guilt due to underperforming or not completing a task.
The burnout and the meltdown
The phase when people usually start to think that something went wrong. And it really is so true.
Blurry gaze, slow reactions. No strength and no drive.
Nothing works out, everything is annoying. At the same time, anger and self-flagellation reach apogee. Self loathing or the circumstances that created the current situation.
Depersonalization is in full bloom - dehumanizing yourself and those around you, falling out of reality, as if you were watching a movie about yourself (for example, you know that you love a person, but the thing is that you rather understand it with your mind than feeling it). The protective reaction is such that you feel less.
Putting the body to bed. It can no longer function. There are chronic diseases that require special attention, time. A person falls out of life and cannot engage in a job, career, for example.
The bottom
This is an even harder stage than the previous one. Just a plus to everything I don't want anything at all. Total apathy. Depression. There is no vitality for anything. There is a real threat to life. Next is either the end or you're going through a complete transformation.
A man looks like a shadow of a man he used to be. A complete withdrawal from social contacts and a complete social crisis.
The condition at this stage is a protective reaction of the body to the prolonged stress to which a person has been subjected to himself for a long time. And it's time for serious treatment and get out from the bottom.
The good news is that you can push back from the bottom and swim to the surface, taking a new breath. The breath of life...
