πŸͺΏKAC on tour in CorkπŸͺΏ
Last Sunday KAC took over the rebel capital ❀️🀍
Potentially the biggest representation of any club outside of Cork πŸ’ͺ
We had athletes in the 10k (5 ladies) with Orlagh Reilly first home in 1:02πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯
In the marathon (5 athletes) Sandra Lynch 2:58 super sub-3 SandraπŸ’ͺπŸ”₯ and Brendan O’Neill 3:09πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯first KAC lady and man home πŸͺΏ
In the half-marathon (28 athletes) with Brian Gurrin πŸ’ͺ (1:19) and Georgina πŸ’ͺ (1:49) leading the men’s and women’s teams home πŸͺΏ
Sandra 8th lady home first in AG πŸ…
Brian 3rd in AG national bronze πŸ₯‰
Provisional Team results from the half-marathon:
KAC women (all ages), best team (Georgina McWilliams, Emma Sheahan, Clare Browne) – 20th; men (all ages), best team (Brian Gurrin, Brian O’Regan, David Sparks) – 12th
O35 teams, women (Georgina, Emma and Clare) – 12th; men (Brian, Brian and David) – 6th
O50 teams, women (Georgina, Niamh Hatton and Lourda Scott) – 4th; men (Brian, Gordon McWilliams, Ian Wiley) – 5th
What a performance by the club πŸͺΏπŸ’ͺπŸ”₯
Note – the KAC women’s O50 were pipped for 3rd place, and a national team medal, by Watergrasshill AC (6:10:02), who beat KAC O50 ladies (6:10:39) by 37 seconds, and the men’s O50 were nudged out of 4th spot by 3 seconds
A very proud day for our Club, and we were delighted to see big KAC numbers in the races πŸͺΏπŸ’ͺπŸ’«βœ¨πŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ€πŸ–€
At the start of the year, we called on Club members to consider jumping into the big national and provincial races, and we’re delighted with the response, so thank you to all who signed up, and donned the colours in Cork πŸ™
There was also some pacing from club members which is great to see and is a great alternative to racing so something to keep in mind for future races, whether you want to pace or be paced, there are always members happy to help out πŸ’ͺπŸ’šπŸ€πŸ’›πŸ–€
Bring on Tullamore, and the Leinster half marathon Championship, when we get to do it all again πŸ’ͺ
Lastly not only do KAC members show up and perform in races they also know how to celebrate πŸ₯‚ πŸ₯³

✨Juvenile news ✨ We did it again

What a day for KAC juveniles πŸ™Œ

37 athletes on the bus trip to Tullamore for the Children's Games and U12 & U13 Championships

KAC juveniles definitely made a name for themselves. Not only the most joyfulΒ and most supportive bunch of kids but also competitive and thriving πŸ’«

A few names to mention ⭐

Ciara Fay u13 in the 600m final, came 4th

Her sister Lily Fay u12, made it to the semi final of 60m.

MyΓ  Mlisana u12, finished 6th in the 600m with a big PB

Ben McNally u11, finished 5th with a massive PB

Billie Bowles u11, came 7th in LJ out of 80 girls

Billie Bowles and Grace Wills came 4th in LJ, narrowly missing out on qualification to Nationals

And then Seanie Martin did us all soo proud in HJ! He got bronze and qualified for the Nationals. Everyone in KAC wishes him the very best of luck πŸ€

Huge thanks to Lena and all the coaches who put soo much time and effort into the young Athletes and for helping them make core memories with bus trips to the events and group meals on the way home to celebrate and socialise, these are the days they will remember very fondly πŸ’ž

Day 2&3 Wicklow Track and Field Championships proved hugely successful for Juveniles and Seniors alike πŸ₯‡ πŸ₯ˆ πŸ₯‰

Lots of fun had and phenomenal results from everyone πŸ† Soo many medals and massive individual improvements πŸ’ͺπŸ™Œ

None of it would be possible without the volunteers behind the scenes organising leading up to the event and on the day/s from our own club and the other clubs and to our wonderful coaches who give up so much of their time and expertise so we can all get the most out of these events βœ¨πŸ’« so a big thank you πŸ™

πŸͺΏπŸ’šπŸ’›πŸ–€πŸ€ Save The Date πŸ“… July 25th Kilcooleathleticclub Family Fun Day βœ¨πŸ’«

It may seem a long way away but we are busy preparing for this year's Fun Day on July 25th. It is a key Fundraising date for our juvenile athletes for new equipment and trips and will be particularly special as the organising committee this year is made up entirely of our own teenage athletes πŸ™Œ they already have some amazing plans to make the day even better than last year. Please keep the date in your diary and if you are a local Business and would like to donate or sponsor a prize for the day they would be delighted to talk to you. Contact: [email protected] for enquiries, thank you πŸ™

Such amazing young men πŸ’ž

πŸ’™ Come on Wicklow β€” let’s get behind the FTD Brothers, Jordan & Cian Adams πŸ’™

These incredibly brave young men are taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise awareness and vital funds for dementia research.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ 32 Marathons πŸ“ 32 Counties πŸ“… 32 Days πŸ—“ April 27th – May 28th, 2026

On Saturday 23rd May, let’s give Jordan & Cian the Wicklow welcome they deserve and show our support for their mission.

πŸ“ Meet at Black Castle at 10am to see them off
πŸ“ Join us again on South Quay from 2pm to welcome them home after completing their 26-mile run

We’d love to see sports clubs, local groups, families, friends, and runners come together to support the lads β€” even joining them for parts of the route along the way.

Check out the route at:
https://www.komoot.com/tour/2949144980

Jordan, Cian, and their sister Kennedy lost their beloved mother Geraldine, who was from Ireland to Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in 2016 at just 52 years of age.

Tragically, Jordan & Cian have inherited the same condition. Despite knowing they are likely to become symptomatic in their early 40s, they describe their diagnosis as a β€œLicence to Live” and are determined to make every day count.

Please support, share, donate, and spread the word ❀️

All funds go directly to FTD Brothers Foundation and Alzheimers Society of Ireland.
