20/05/2017
Less than 24 hours to go before the first Leinster BJJ Open kicks off in Go Gym Greystones. We've had huge interest from clubs all over the country for the maiden event. Thanks to everyone who got in touch ahead of time to let us know they're coming. Full registration in on the day though so you can drop in even if you haven't contacted us first. Here's a few things to keep in mind -
Venue is Go Gym in Charleland, Greystones, Co. Wicklow.
Registration fee is €35 and registration/weigh ins begin at 9am.
This is a no-gi competition. However, levels are based on belt colour.
Weight classes and scoring will be based on the ibjjf system.
Matches are dependent on who comes along on the day so there's no way of guaranteeing you'll get a match. If there is nobody in your belt/weight category to compete against, you will have the option of moving up in weight in some cases. If you don't get to compete you will be given a full refund.
All judges decisions are final.
Medals for first, second and third place will be presented for each category.
A medical team with ambulance will be in attendance on the day.
Two mats will be in operation on the day.
There will be a shop on site selling rash guards, event t-shirts plus water and snacks.
This is the first ever Leinster BJJ Open. It was set up in order to provide the BJJ community in Ireland another opportunity to compete outside of the major competitions. Our team will be doing its best to make sure it runs smoothly and that everyone enjoys the Open, but we ask that egos are left at the door and coaches and competitors are patient and respectful.
Best of luck
The Leinster Open Team
