#143: The Reality Of Type 1 Complications, with Dnaiel Newman ( T1d_dan ).

Daniel is from the UK and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 10. Admittedly, Daniel wasn't the best at his diabetes management in the early years. He says himself that as a teen he just wanted to be able to hang around with his friends after school and eat 'junk'.

Daniel has experienced complications from his diabetes which include Diabetic Retinopathy and in 2018 had to undergo a kidney transplant. He believes that Diabetic complications can be seen as a stigma and encourages more people to be open about it.

These days, Daniel is a big member in the diabetic community and even launched his own podcast 'Talking Type 1 Podcast' in 2020.

#141: Misdiagnosed As Type 2 Diabetic, For Over 10 Years! With Dex Geralds

( ).

Dex is a Personal Trainer and Fitness Model from Michigan, currently working and living in LA, California.

Dex has a family history of Type 2 Diabetes, and as a result, he was diagnosed as Type 2 Dabetic over 10 years ago.

For this whole 10 year period Dex was constantly fighting high blood sugars, low on energy and knew something just wasn’t right.

Following a number of different events, Dex got a second opinion from a doctor and discovered that he was actually living with Type 1 Diabetes the whole time! An absolutely incredible story.

#140: Managing Grief, with Bridget McNulty ( ).

Bridget is from South Africa and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 25. Since being diagnosed, Bridget has been massively involved within the Diabetes community and does great work to raise and heighten awareness about the condition worldwide.

Bridget is a writer, content strategist, and co-founder of Sweet Life ( .org.za ), South Africa’s largest online Diabetes community.

She launched South Africa’s first ever Diabetic Podcast, ‘South Africans with Diabetes’. With the aim to answer the most commonly asked Diabetes questions, without the ‘confusing medicine talk’.

Bridget is the author of The Grief Handbook: A guide through the worst days of your life, which was internationally published last year - a book she wrote shortly after her own mother died suddenly.

Bridget is someone who strongly believes it’s possible to do anything at all with diabetes, and simultaneously that there is great joy in the small, everyday moments.

#135: Eoin’s Second Round With COVID - 19

In this episode I share my ‘live’ experience with COVID.

I recently tested positive for COVID-19, and in this episode I talk to you while I’m in isolation, almost exactly a year after the first time I tested positive.

Myself and Graham go through the differences between the first and second time with the virus, the impact it’s having on my blood sugar, steps I take to stay on top of my blood sugar, and decisions we can make to help ‘simplify’ our management if, and when we’re sick in the future.
