A lot of the athletes I have worked with are equestrians at different levels.
Here are 5 exercises that all of my equestrian athletes will most likely have in their program at some stage.
1. Floating Heel Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat with banded resisted adduction hold
- Builds single leg strength while also encouraging co-contraction of the adductors, helping you stay stable and secure in the saddle
- Aim for 3 x 8 each side
2. Pallof Press with Quarter Squat Med Ball Squeeze
- Challenging your core, engaging above and below the pelvis to increase core control in the saddle
- Aim for 3 x 12-15 controlled reps each side
3. Romanian Deadlift
- The hinge pattern is the movement for your jumping position. Strengthen your posterior chain and increase your ability to resist getting tipped forward on landing, becoming a more balanced rider
- Aim for 3 x 8-12
4. Single Arm Row
- Strengthen your back and posterior shoulder, and have better control of your rein aids independently.
- Aim for 3 x 8-10 each side
5. SL Foam Roller Iso Bridge
- Great for co-contraction of the posterior leg and build strength endurance for those lateral movement aids. No more cramps during your half pass!
- Aim for 3 x 30-45 seconds each side
Save this post for later and let me know if you try any!
Also I would greatly appreciate it if you share this post with a fellow equestrian rider!
