Today Waterford Castle Golf Club hosted Round 1 of the 2026 Deise League.

62 juniors golfers, from 6 golf clubs participated in magnificent sunshine on what was a very hot day.

Special mention to the youngest Deise golfer to play the 18 holes, aged 8, and the one and only girl who bravely played against the boys.

Well done everyone, super proud!

The results(stableford) are:
1st prize: Keelan Maloney (ph 17) Tramore golf club 40 pts c/b
2nd prize: Eric Wiley (ph17) Waterford Castle golf club 40 pts
Best Gross: Jude White (ph 4) Faithlegg Golf club 32 points

The palliative care team at UHW were stunned and delighted with the amount raised at our fundraiser day for the Oak ward. €19,200 will go a long way in providing extra services for those in the south east that require their care. A huge thank you to everyone at WCGC for their support.

Today we were thrilled to host the first round of Golf Ireland, Golf Sixes Waterford tournament in Waterford Castle.

It was a superb day of golf, enjoyed by all our members and visitors in spectacular sunshine.

Our players performed superbly and we could see the results of all our Thursday evenings practice today⛳️

Thank you Tramore Golf Club, West Waterford Golf Club, and Waterford Golf Club for coming along and making this a very successful day.

All players played super golf !!

A special thank you to all volunteers and parents for helping out, we appreciate very much.

One of our Special Needs athletes, John Flynn is travelling to Dublin tomorrow to represent Munster in the Irish Special Olympics. John is also the first Waterford man to represent Munster in many years. The Golf takes place in Westmanstown Golf club near Lucan. We take this opportunity to wish John and his family every good wish for the weekend. We would also like to wish two more of our athletes, Wayne Pepper and Zoe McCauliff the very best as they take part in Gymnastics at the games. We are very proud of you all.
