Ballyshunnock Reservoir The reservoir is managed as a mixed fishery by Waterford & District Coarse Angling Club. This allows easy access to over half a mile of bank fishing.

Ballyshunnock reservoir is a 70 acre man made lake situated on the Portlaw road, 1 mile north of the junction with the N25 Cork road at Carroll's Cross in County Waterford, Ireland. It is regularly stocked with brown and rainbow trout of 1lb plus as well as a healthy native population. It also contains rudd, bream, tench, roach, perch, carp and rudd/bream hybrids. The lake is split by the Portlaw

road and there is good access from the two car parks to the two fishable sections of the lake. The brown trout fishing season runs from March 17th to September 30th, all other species can be fished up to December 31st. There is a catch limit of 3 trout per angler per day and only fish of over 30 cm can be taken. All other fish must be returned alive to the water and no coarse fish can be taken or killed. Permits cost €50 per year for adults, € 15 per year for under 18s and € 15 per day. Permits are available at the lake at advertised times. Day permits and underage permits available from Centra in Kilmeaden, Waterford Angling and Outdoor Centre (John O'Brien), Waterford, Titelines in Cappoquin, Dungarvan Country Sports and Newtown Stores, Newtown. Just a reminder folks there is no. Swimming allowed in the lake as per Irish Water. Can Also having a picnic at the lake is fine ,as Long as you bring home the rubbish .leave no trace you were there.z

The John Kearney memorial Match was fished on Sunday at Ballyshunnock.
We were greeted with bright sunshine and a stiff easterly wind ,not the best conditions for a days fishing.21 anglers took part .fishing was difficult for most ,but some had better days
The winner overall was
1st Richard Rockett Waterford and District 5.9kg
2nd Adrian Browne Oaklands. 3.3kg
3rd Grazydas Karalius Eastside Angling Club 3.3kg

Heaviest fish Liam Conway Waterford and District 1.25kg

1st junior Jack Norris 2.4kg
2nd junior Finn Mc Carthy .840kg
There was €455 raised for the Team Ireland Youth
Traveling to France for the World championship.

We have been informed of members breaking our rules in the last few weeks, namely taking more than two trout , fishing more than one rod and littering. If any member sees someone breaking the rules would they please report it to the committee.
