No Gaff Party This Year ...

The Cottage Celtic come up short against Tallaght Town in the Gaff Cup semi final at home Friday night

Great game if your a neutral to watch but on both sides it was heart in the mouth stuff for both dug outs, with a place in the final at stake Cottage put in a massive attempt to take the initatvie and go for it early on. It was not to be and in a tightly contested first half Tallaght some how managed to take the lead in front of an amazed Bluebell crowd, Cottage also conceded a first half penalty but a superb save by goal keeper Gibbons kept it at 1nil. Gibbons added this save to his collection this season, who has been in superb form between the posts and leading by example.
Onto the second half Cottage Celtic kept pressing and
looking for an equaliser. Tallaght Town stood firm and it wasn't until late on and with about 2 minutes of the 90 remaining when somehow Adam Mitchell scrambled the ball in to make it 1-1.

Celebrations on the line was quickly followed by optimisim as The Cottage thought the game was there to be won after finally getting the breakthrough equaliser , however more drama ensued and before anyone could catch their breath Tallaght Town in proper cup football fashion regained their lead by scoring their second in the 90 min.

The Cottage kept fighting as they always do and looked for yet another equaliser in this thrilling contest however that quest left them a little exposed at the back and just before the end Tallaght
Town got their opportunity to catch Cottage on the break and put the game to bed by making it 3-1.

An excellent display of football put on by both teams tonight under the magnificent facilities in the heart of Bluebell and a mention should go to all 3 match officials who played their part by ensuring a fair contest between two well matched rivals.

Good luck to worthy finalists Tallaght Town in their cup final in mid October

Cottage Celtic now turn all their attention to the league knowing winning all their own games can deliver the league title once and for all.

News Flash 3 points earned for Cottage Celtic against League Leaders on a Dark Evening for DCT UTD.

Not Even Sherlock Holmes himself would be able to put a stop to Mr Moriarty as he navigates his ship full of super ballers up the divison 1 river towards the top end of the stream.

Theres points still to play for this season and with the upcoming budget its a fact that dropping points could be costly for the oppositon and it might be just the kind of result this hardly contested division needed as we move into the business end of the season.

Speaking of business, what business did a certain Mr Dessie Leonard have coming on for only a half and putting the game beyond reach of DCT. The man who has played a part in many a memorable moment in the cottage colours did it again tonight notching up a brace of goals in the second half to add to the finishes by the front man Moo who loves nothing better than finding the back of the net and arguably the find of the season Nailor who continued his excellent rein of good performances with a tasty finish mid way through the first half .

As ususal the cottage had to dig in and struggle against the 12th man , he with the whistle , but recent weeks and calm heads helped them see it through as they gathered up there victory there points and there confidence just in time for a massive semi final on the horizon next week.

A late consolation by DCT and a bit of a draining extra 9 minutes did nothing for the tired legs on both sides, 99 minutes on a thursday in difficult condition , its likely the squad well be over joyed with the weekend to spend time catching up with there friends and family or enjoying a tasty tipple at the Cottage Inn .

Who Knows what lies ahead ?
