Today I am celebrating 20 years of teaching yoga! I had no idea when I started my first teacher training that it would bring me so much joy and become such a core part of who I am.
I didn’t train to become a teacher. Yes, I was really into yoga, but I hated public speaking and presenting. I used to blush so badly. I trained because I thought that if I could learn how to stand up in front of people and make them relax, even when I was really nervous inside, that would be an incredible skill to have.
However when I started my accredited course with Simon Low I realised I loved sharing yoga with others. And so began my journey.
Regardless of teaching, I will always be a student. There is so much to learn and absorb from classes, books, podcasts and also from my own body and mind through self practice.
Here’s to another 20 years of rolling out my yoga mat!

A reminder that there is no yoga class Saturday morning this week .healers_dance. Instead I am taking part in the Wicklow Way challenge as part of a relay with my work trail-running team! We are taking on 130km of hills and trails in aid of . Wish us luck… and dry weather!

If you want to be kind to your body, try a supine twist. A little support with a pillow under your knees can make this feel even sweeter.
Gentle twists like this support spine health, giving all the discs a little massage, ease muscles, aid digestion and calm the nervous system. What’s not to love??

After 30 years practising yoga, I never get bored on my mat. The same pose can feel unique each time you practice - a slight change of position or a different mood - that it invites you to explore it, and how it feels, all over again.

Saturday morning’s class at .healers_dance will focus on the hips and pelvis. Yes, stretching out the hips is great for your mobility, your back and your posture, but it can also bring a huge sense of emotional release as you tease out tension. This sequence is one of my favourites ✨
