Lots of foreign running by the Country Clubbers recently.

Dor and Jim Ryan ran the 5k charity run in Marbella, which runs alongside a half marathon. They really enjoyed it as the route takes runners along the prom, giving great views of the sea. The Country club was well represented 😎

Meanwhile Michael O'Regan took part in the Lagos Beach 5k. The sun was shining, the sea was warm and the rehydration beers were chilled 🍻 The perfect run!

Meanwhile Marion Cummins ran in Glasgow on Saturday and then ran in the Cook Medical Mini Marathon today. There was a wonderful atmosphere, as always, and a good crowd at it.

Well done Dor, Jim, Michael and Marion 😎

Lahinch half marathon & 10k was held today and three of our Country Clubbers were flying the flag at what turned out to be a glorious morning for it.

PJ O'Mahony took part in the 10k while Charlie Goldsmith and Andrew White competed in the half marathon. The lads reported it was a tough half with plenty of rolling hills but a savage day for it.

Meanwhile, Dominic Devereux met David Gillick at the Park Run. He reports that David is a lovely guy who had plenty of time for everyone.

Congratulations to you all, what a day for it 😎

The Kerry Way Ultra Trail races were held this weekend. Brendan Fitzgerald finished the Kerry Way Ultranite 58k in just under 9 hours. He did a savage job and deserves huge credit for this fantastic run 🙂

Darren Crowe raced in the UltraNite 101km race. It started on Friday night in Waterville, and finished in Killarney on Saturday with a 24-hour cut off limit. Darren completed it in a very creditable 17:53 👏

In another part of Kerry, Mary Cavanagh took part in the Di**le Half Marathon. As always, she ran it with a smile on her face - well done Mary 👏

Michael O'Regan enjoyed the experience of the Cape Clear half marathon this weekend. It started with the Inis Cleire ferry from Baltimore bringing the runners across to the island to the start line of the race.
The races - a 10k and a half marathon - took the runners along Fuschia-infused lanes, single-track trails, across rough island paths, up steep climbs and down rolling descents, all of which combined to reveal the island’s beauty and far beyond with views to the Fastnet Lighthouse.
After the race there was a medal ceremony, some music and a celebratory pint of Guinness before the ferry will brought the runners back to the mainland. What a wonderful race - well done Michael 👏

The Streets of Galway race celebrated its 40th anniversary this year and some of our Country Clubbers headed west to take part. There is always a fantastic atmosphere at this 8k race and it sold out early this year. Great running by Yvonne Deegan, Dor Ryan and Jim Ryan on Saturday in weather that we aren't used to anymore - they experienced a brief sprinkle of rain just before the race started, prompting some runners to take shelter beforehand, but then conditions cleared for the 4,000 participants as they headed off around the city. All 3 Country Clubbers ran well and both Dor and Von were 4th in their respective age categories - fantastic running ladies 👏 Jim finished well in his category too. They also met Sonia O'Sullivan and tried to convince her to join us but she's happy to stay with Ballymore Cobh AC. Maybe next time 😁

The Kilkee 10k and Half Marathon races were held on Saturday. They're both tough races with the 10k being described as having hills all the way out and then more hills all the way back 😁. Thankfully this didn't deter Kenneth Bourke who took part in the hilly 10k.

The Half Marathon race was taken on by Dominic Devereux, Michael O'Regan and Charlie Goldsmith. Micheal's son, Gavin, ran it as his first half marathon - a tough one to start out on. We're not sure whose smile is wider, father or son.

Today Máire O'Sullivan took part in the IMRA Munster Moylussa race on Clare's highest summit. She was delighted to take part but is more proud of the fact that it was her 100th IMRA race so got presented with her "100 Club" tshirt. IMRA Races are run over of a variety of terrains from forest tracks to rough open mountain, but all include a large element of climb - a lot of effort went into getting to 💯 so she's feeling delighted.

Well done Ken, Dom, Michael, Gavin, Charlie and Máire 👏

There was an international flavour to the Country Club running this weekend. While the rest of us sweltered in the heat in Ireland, Dominic Devereux went to North Wales and competed in the local Park Run in Llandrillo-yn-Rhys. The run takes place from the promenade, has stunning views and a lovely cool sea breeze. Well done Dom 👏

A Backyard Ultra is a last-person-standing endurance race where participants complete a 6.7 km loop every hour, on the hour.

Runners must complete each loop within the hour and return to the start line for the next. Any runner who fails to finish within the hour, or is not present in the starting corral for the next loop, is eliminated.

Each loop starts precisely on the hour, with warnings at 3, 2, and 1 minute before the start. No late starts are permitted.

There is no fixed race distance—the event continues until only one runner remains. The winner is the final runner to successfully complete a loop after all others have been eliminated.

Last weekend two of our Country Clubbers took part in the IMRA Connacht Back Yard Ultra. Brendan Fitzgerald and Darren Crowe took on this beast of a race. Brendan (far left) ran a fantastic 11 loops, completing 73.7km.
Darren (second ftom right) went on to do an astonishing 12 loops to run a fantastic 80.4km

Massive congratulations to the lads, what a fantastic feat. They ran with their friends Barry, Ray and Dave, also pictured. Kudos to all of you 👏

The Ennis Half Marathon was held this weekend and two of our Country Clubbers headed out to compete. The route went through some of Clare's finest scenery, past the still waters of Ballyalla Lake, along the banks of the Fergus River and over Ballygriffy Bridge. Scenic, peaceful and completely stunning. Michael O'Regan and Charlie Goldsmith were both fabulous finishers - well done lads.

Meanwhile, Máire O'Sullivan was in the hills above Lough Derg running in the IMRA Munster Tountinna race. The first half of the run involved a rocky, undulating trail out to the Millennium Cross. The second half of the race went past the "Graves of the Leinstermen", up a single technical track to the mast on the summit of Tountinna. The trail then became a mix of undulating peat track and firetrail before heading back down to the finish line.

Well done Charlie, Michael and Máire 👏 👏
