Our dedicated volunteers and course staff have been working tirelessly to present both the clubhouse and the course at their very best.

Junior Cup Result

Tuam bowed out of the Junior Cup on a narrow 3–2 score line against a strong Castlebar side, but not before producing a spirited performance in extremely difficult conditions.

One of the highlights of the day came in the third home match, where Patrick Togher mounted a superb fightback from four down. Assisted by an unfortunate rules infringement by the opposition on the 16th, Patrick battled all the way to the final hole and produced an excellent birdie from just off the green in two to force the match into sudden-death extra holes. The match ended on the second extra hole.

The tie was played in appalling weather conditions throughout. Despite some excellent golf from Tuam, including impressive short-game skills, and a number of birdies, and scoring that was close to level par, Castlebar's resilient team ultimately prevailed. Their side included a highly talented sixteen-year-old who made a significant contribution to the victory.

Jimmy Bruen Result

Our Jimmy Bruen team overcame a strong and well-supported Oughterard side in a dramatic sudden-death playoff last evening. The match finished all square after the four foursomes had been completed, setting the stage for a tense finish.

There were plenty of memorable moments throughout the tie. At home, match two produced a Houdini-like escape to secure a half after a wayward drive found the trees beyond the pond on the 8th hole, while an excellent birdie on the demanding par-4 10th proved crucial. Elsewhere, steady and consistent golf laid the foundation for a strong home performance.

The two away matches proved more challenging, but when it mattered most the experienced pairing of Danny McGrath and John Burke rose to the occasion. A well-crafted par on the first playoff hole secured a famous victory and booked our place in the next round.

Congratulations to team captains Ivan Mooney and Jerry Donnellan, and to the players who represented the club so admirably:

Our busy week of interclub golf continues this weekend with a Junior Cup clash against a highly regarded Castlebar side.

Castlebar are widely considered to be one of the strongest teams in Connacht and will provide a stern test. However, we are confident that our team is well prepared and capable of putting in a strong performance.
