1st May 2026-the first official day of summer, the business barometer where the packed School Programe is about to begin. Last minute changes to the staff roster trying to remember how to use it!
The kayaking gear being pulled out of the units to see what we can use for another season-or what has to be discarded after many hundreds of peoples bet themselves into it and walked themselves out of it,but discarded knowing it had some craic over the years on the mighty Boyne!!
The Coffee Dock across the yard will be heaving with the 1st Bank Holiday of Summer😎
Gemma be freaking out with the orders and the chaos of the best playground in Ireland as the patrons whisk in and out to the need of the toilets and the lure of the Ice-Cream.
Meself and Gemma stressed to capacity praying for it to be busy and at the same time hopeing we have a handy weekend.
The madness of the Summer buzz around a town that by the magnetic draw of the Boyne will pull people from the indoor comforts of their homes to last years summer attire and down to its soothing banks with the kiddos, the dogs, the partners or more often than not-the individual, away from the kiddos, the dogs, the partners and watch the world and the kayaks float by,coffee in hand and just taking it all in.
By whatever reasons or means they come-and come they will in their droves and on the first Bank Holiday of Summer-we better be ready……
Or not……..
Yesterday May 1st.
Meath County Council informed us,that after quite a lot of amicable discussions with both parties (relentless over the past 5 or 6 weeks and ongoing since 2022) that there is a planning “issue” on site and we have been advised:
NOT TO REOPEN BOYNE VALLEY ACTIVITIES & BOYNEISTA COFFEE DOCK from 1st May 2026
We are devastated, everything is being left as is.
Down there this morning we had to get out of there with the amount of people rattling the gate to get in to use the facilities and enjoy the amenities.
Both kayaking & Coffee Facilities must remain closed until a resolution is found
We apologise to our dedicated staff that we just couldn’t employ with this going on all spring.
We apologies to our fantastic customers from both facilities
We apologise to the Schools for no school Tours
We apologies to the kids and parents that there has a no Summer kayaking Camps.
We apologies to the Hotels & Guesthouses bringing Visitors to us
We apologies to the musicians that played here on so many summer sessions
We apologies to the people of Trim for having to keep the facility and River closed.
We apologies to Boyne Blueway for the immediate closure of the route and future accreditation of it as it looses the accreditation without an activity provider on it.
We HAVE always toed the line with MCC on this matter and as we only got final word on to an 17.30 yesterday evening, we will remain closed. For now.
Any irregularities on this site have NOT been Boyne Valley Activities doing and we have ALWAYS engaged with MCC and for now we will do the same
But we won’t go away and by Jasus-we won’t go quietly.
Sorry everyone 😒
The pityfull pictures posted are of our beloved facility locked up & locked out on the 1st Weekend of Summer😔😔
We will literally keep you posted
Please share.
