Based in Trim (approx 45 mins from Dublin city centre) we will take you kayaking down the river Boyne, tailored to suit any groups, navigating the river in friendly "sit on top" kayaks or White Water Rafts. You will find it truly inspiring and as NO EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY you will take to this, quite literally like a duck to water. All trips are fully insured and run by qualified instructors and e

xperienced river guides!! We offer a Medieval Trim River Tour (Floating through Time), a unique opportunity to view these magnificent surroundings. If you want to go at your own pace why not rent some kayaks and paddle down the Boyne Blueway from our facility? Or book the young ones in onto one of our 3 day summer camps-a fantastic introduction to paddling and water confidence. If it all seems too hectic for you why not come down to our river side coffee dock, Boyneista, and just watch the world float by to the sound of the river Boyne? Whatever you decide to do you won’t be disappointed and check out any of the restaurants, hotels or pubs this quaint, little town has to offer and experience the reason we call this place “home”

Evening folks, we are purposely staying off line in order to concentrate on sorting things out here.
On Friday we met with a group of local elected representatives, some Council officials and someone from the planning office in MCC.
As ever, the conversation was amicable-but frustrating.
We have 2 options

1) Apply to An Bord Pleanala to gain Planning Permission on this Site

2) Remove ALL structures on site and everything that is here now that was not here prior to our 2016 Planning Application.

Once removed we can apply for planning permission from MCC

As of today, neither of these options are viable for us.

As of today, we can now tell all our customers/friends/ supporters they we will NOT BE REOPEN FOR 2026 season.

We are taking this approach to concentrate on what is needed/required to get this mess sorted out and back open (hopefully) for Spring 2027

We now need to look deeper into the options we have before us and make a decision based on advise that we have not actually sought yet.

We will do all we can to stay on this site and we have NO intention of leaving this business that we have started from nothing to what it has become today.

We can’t thank all our friends and supporters for rallying around our cause-but for now we will remain closed for 2026-but vow to DEFINITELY be back to where we started for next season🤞🤞🤞

Thanks everyone

Not exactly the pictures we would normally post on May 16th.
Mid-way through the 1st Month of Summer and we have no choice but to fence off the facility to make it vandal proof.
Unfortunately while most (actually everyone in the Community) are in full support of the situation, some teens found a pretty cool spot to hang out and chill in the evenings-and while no harm was done or intended it’s not an option for us to allow access to the facility while we are not here.
So,some bueatiful Haras Fencing on show to catch the eye to welcome locals and visitors to the Recreational Area of Trim Town🤷‍♂️
Regarding updates on the situation:
There’s not a whole lot.
Cllr. Ronan Moore is leading the charge in keeping pressure on MCC and discussions have been ongoing to be fair over the past 2 weeks, though there has been no significant change in the situation.
There’s a couple of big guns landing in Bovinda House on Tuesday to discuss matters with MCC so we impatiently await that out come🤞🤞🙏🙏
In the meantime we just stay closed and wait

Reeling in the years eh!
Well the year was last year, this day last year in fact.
11th May last year was a Sunday.
What a difference a year makes………
As we remain closed I said we’d just put a sporadic clip/pic of where we were a year ago every now and then.
Trim Canoe Club were strutting their stuff and the sun was out…..
Good vibes…….

1st May 2026-the first official day of summer, the business barometer where the packed School Programe is about to begin. Last minute changes to the staff roster trying to remember how to use it!
The kayaking gear being pulled out of the units to see what we can use for another season-or what has to be discarded after many hundreds of peoples bet themselves into it and walked themselves out of it,but discarded knowing it had some craic over the years on the mighty Boyne!!
The Coffee Dock across the yard will be heaving with the 1st Bank Holiday of Summer😎
Gemma be freaking out with the orders and the chaos of the best playground in Ireland as the patrons whisk in and out to the need of the toilets and the lure of the Ice-Cream.
Meself and Gemma stressed to capacity praying for it to be busy and at the same time hopeing we have a handy weekend.
The madness of the Summer buzz around a town that by the magnetic draw of the Boyne will pull people from the indoor comforts of their homes to last years summer attire and down to its soothing banks with the kiddos, the dogs, the partners or more often than not-the individual, away from the kiddos, the dogs, the partners and watch the world and the kayaks float by,coffee in hand and just taking it all in.
By whatever reasons or means they come-and come they will in their droves and on the first Bank Holiday of Summer-we better be ready……

Or not……..

Yesterday May 1st.

Meath County Council informed us,that after quite a lot of amicable discussions with both parties (relentless over the past 5 or 6 weeks and ongoing since 2022) that there is a planning “issue” on site and we have been advised:

NOT TO REOPEN BOYNE VALLEY ACTIVITIES & BOYNEISTA COFFEE DOCK from 1st May 2026

We are devastated, everything is being left as is.
Down there this morning we had to get out of there with the amount of people rattling the gate to get in to use the facilities and enjoy the amenities.

Both kayaking & Coffee Facilities must remain closed until a resolution is found

We apologise to our dedicated staff that we just couldn’t employ with this going on all spring.

We apologies to our fantastic customers from both facilities

We apologise to the Schools for no school Tours

We apologies to the kids and parents that there has a no Summer kayaking Camps.

We apologies to the Hotels & Guesthouses bringing Visitors to us

We apologies to the musicians that played here on so many summer sessions

We apologies to the people of Trim for having to keep the facility and River closed.

We apologies to Boyne Blueway for the immediate closure of the route and future accreditation of it as it looses the accreditation without an activity provider on it.

We HAVE always toed the line with MCC on this matter and as we only got final word on to an 17.30 yesterday evening, we will remain closed. For now.

Any irregularities on this site have NOT been Boyne Valley Activities doing and we have ALWAYS engaged with MCC and for now we will do the same

But we won’t go away and by Jasus-we won’t go quietly.

Sorry everyone 😒

The pityfull pictures posted are of our beloved facility locked up & locked out on the 1st Weekend of Summer😔😔

We will literally keep you posted

Please share.

Well done to Wild Water Kayak Club for hosting a very successful race to Bective.
It’s the 2nd year it has been held in Trim and was great to see so many boats hit the Boyne and race tt Bective.
Unfortunately this year, Boyne Valley Activities & Boyneista Coffee Dock had to remain closed for the race.

Our new boat arrived today😂😂
