🥊 Kerry County Boxing Championship 🥊

We had a fantastic day today at the Kerry County Boxing Championships in Sliabh Luachra Boxing Club, Castleisland.

The standard of boxing on display was excellent, with great skill and sportsmanship shown by all competitors throughout the day. A huge thank you to all the clubs, boxers, coaches, officials, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the championship such a success.

Well done to everyone who stepped through the ropes — Kerry boxing is in great hands 👊💚💛

A massive thank you to Chris from Tipperary who judged on the day and also brought boxers for matches — we really appreciate the support.

Thanks to our very own Tommy Kelliher for refereeing the contests and keeping everything running smoothly in the ring.

Huge thanks to our County Board officers — Niamh, (keeping us all on our toes ) Mairéad, John, Jennifer — for all the hard work before, during, and after the championships.

A special mention to Anthony on timekeeping (he’s definitely a keeper 😉), Breda our medic for looking after everyone’s safety, and great to have Johno and his boxer on hand as well.Pat from Tralee for souring the doctor every year ..

Thank you to all officials who gave their time on the day, and finally a big shout-out to Trish of Sliabh Luachra who kept everyone fed and watered — absolutely amazing as always.

Days like this don’t happen without a brilliant team 👊💚💛

Patricia Keenan, Director of Funding at 2into3, will lead the session. Patricia has extensive experience across multiple national grant programmes and has supported countless clubs to refine their project ideas, strengthen their pitch, and prepare high-quality applications.

What a fantastic day of boxing we had in Tralee Boxing Club today , Southside selection travelled down from Limerick for our annual show , the first leg was held in Kerry and it was not a disappointment, boxers from Trojan Boxing Club , Ballyduff Amateur Boxing Club, Sliabh luachra boxing club Castleisland and TraleeBoxing Club took part in this annual event, The score from today was Kerry 6 and Southside 4 ..

Thank you to Niamh Ball for organising on behalf of the County Board great matches and a great day of boxing with our friends from Limerick..

It was a huge honour for me to be asked to officially open the new premises of the Trojan Boxing Club yesterday. The fabulous new gym is located at unit 2, Sean Mccarthy Warehousing, Cleveragh industrial Estate Listowel. Best wishes to Grahame, Maria, Niamh and all of the brilliant coaching team . Continued success to all at this wonderful club and thank you for everything you do for our community.

Excitement is building across the Kingdom as the Kerry County Board prepares to host its Annual Awards and Boxing Showcase on Saturday, May 10th.
Venue is Ballyduff Community Centre the event promises to be a memorable evening celebrating the achievements of Kerry’s finest boxing talent.
This year's celebration will feature boxers from some of Kerry’s most dedicated and successful clubs, including Trojan Boxing Club Sliabh luachra boxing club Castleisland Tralee Boxing Club,Ballyduff Amateur Boxing Club, and Kingdom boxing academy
The evening will highlight not only the strength of Kerry boxing but also the commitment of local clubs in nurturing young athletes and champions. Doors open at 5.30pm .

A number of prestigious awards will be presented throughout the evening, recognising outstanding performances and dedication in the 2024/25 season.
Among the honourees will be our Kerry County Champions, Munster Champions, and All-Ireland titleholders – boxers who have represented the county with pride and distinction.
In addition to individual awards, two special club accolades will also be announced on the night: the Best Kerry Club of the Year, which honours the club with the most outstanding overall performance this season, and the Club Recognition Award, given in appreciation of exceptional contribution to the development of boxing in Kerry.

On the night, 15 exciting inter-county bouts will take place, putting the spotlight on Kerry’s outstanding boxing talent.

Behind the scenes, the Kerry County Board continues to work tirelessly to strengthen the sport across the county. Their focus remains on ensuring that every boxer, coach, and volunteer—from grassroots to elite—feels supported, valued, and empowered. Through events like this and ongoing support for clubs, the board is committed to building a strong, inclusive future for Kerry boxing.

The board is led by a passionate team, including Chair Jennifer O’Sullivan, Vice Chair Frankie O’Brien, Secretary Niamh Ball, Treasurers Lynda McGrath and Mairead Enright, Registrar Maria Brosnan, and Child Protection Officer John Coffey—all of whom are deeply committed to the success and wellbeing of Kerry boxing at every level.

“This event allows us to showcase the incredible talent we have here in Kerry and give our athletes the recognition they truly deserve,” said Jennifer O’Sullivan, Chair of the Kerry County Board.

“We’re looking forward to organising a day that celebrates not just achievements in the ring, but also the spirit of community and dedication that runs through Kerry boxing.”
One thing is for certain – this will be a night to remember for Kerry boxing and its supporters.

In preparation for affiliation for the 2025/2026, IABA is hosting required club workshops, focusing on member management and practical Safeguarding

Initially, 16 workshops will take place during weekday lunchtimes, weekday evenings and Saturday mornings. Workshops are expected to last around 30 minutes.

If more workshops are required, they will be provided.

Massive congratulations from all of the Kerry County Boxing Board to Tralee Boxing Club Lynda McGrath who has been named County Kerry’s 2024 recipient of the Irish Federation of sports Volunteers in Sport Awards 👊👊🥊🥊

Kerry County Championships will take place on Sunday the 2nd of Feb in Sliabh luachra boxing club Castleisland , Boxers and coaches are asked to be in the club for 9am to see the doctor and weigh in .
We will have our fantastic Kerry boxers boxing on the day , this is what ye all have been training for and its the start of the Champions , we as the County Board would like to wish all the clubs , coaches and especially the boxers the very best of luck 🥊🏆 also we will be giving out some awards for the past 🥊season of 23/24 , County , Munster and national and Best Club and more will presented on the day ...
