We’re delighted to see the support from the community around Tipperary Town Boxing Club.

Some of the parents and family members connected to the club have recently set up a new page called Tipperary Town Boxing Club Fundraisers to help raise funds for our young boxers.

Local businesses in the town have kindly donated vouchers and prizes, and the page will be running raffles to help support the kids with travel to competitions, equipment, and other costs that come with the sport.

It’s great to see people coming together to support the next generation of boxers and help give them the opportunity to keep progressing.

If you’d like to support, please give the Tipperary Town Boxing Club Fundraisers page a follow and keep an eye out for the upcoming raffles.

Thank you to everyone in the community who continues to support the club and our young athletes. πŸ₯Š

Hi Everyone, just wanted to say I'm delighted with the response on our registration night, happy to say pretty much everyone that should be coming back turned up apart from a few still on holidays (don't worry your places are held for you).Few new faces will be joining us in both classes from the waiting list to make up for the couple we've lost πŸ˜ͺ but we move on and try and train a few more champions this season. See all you juniors at 6pm and all you seniors at 7pm, hope you're ready to work hard πŸ’ͺ. πŸ₯ŠTRAIN HARD, FIGHT EASY That's how we do πŸ₯Š

OK ladies and gents the start of the new season is almost upon us, hope you all enjoyed the summer break and are ready to knuckle down next week and get back to business. From a boxing point of view we had a great year with some new young talent winning some titles and some others very unlucky to be beaten in finals at various levels, this year i hope we can build on that and increase our haul of πŸ… even more . Our first night of training will be next Monday 1st September with juniors at 6pm and seniors at 7pm . I will decide on whether to split the juniors into 2 classes once I see what numbers I have in the first couple of weeks. As always there will be a registration night before training commences for everyone to sign up and pay your membership fees for the season and this will be on Friday 29th August from 6pm to 7pm . Membership will stay the same as the last few years (50 euros) and this must be paid before you can start back training as you are not insured to be in the club without your affiliation. As always I will be giving a discount for any family with more than one child in the club and if I have any room for any new members I will take local children before anyone from anywhere else as is our policy. Hope to see you all on Friday. πŸ₯Š

Due to the incident that occurred last weekend in town the club have issued a lifetime ban to one of our longest serving boxers,it cannot be stressed enough that this club never has and never will condone or tolerate such behaviour from any member no matter how long they have been with us.We as a club and our head coach Chris in particular are devastated and angered by what has happened and he is liaising with the family of the affected young lady and the relevant authorities to assist in any way he can . We also understand that people in general are also angry but the level of abuse that has been directed at Chris personally on here and other social media platforms by people who've never even met him is totally unacceptable and unwarranted. He has dedicated the last 13 years into helping hundreds of young people to stay on the right path and has trained countless County,Munster and Irish champions over that time and the people who do know him and know what he has done for this town should support him and let some positive comments be seen as well as all the hate.We have 50/60 other young boys/girls in the club who we have to look after and try and explain to them what has happened and that is our priority now.I know some people are also asking why this statement wasn't out sooner,we were asked not to post anything until all parties involved were spoken to and the club committee could meet to make a decision. There will be no more statements or replies to comments from the club as the investigation is ongoing.

Thank You
Mary Maguire
Club Secretary

I wasn't going to comment on this but as someone who is very actively involved in our community and who deals with alot of kids from the affected area I feel I have a duty to say something.I have seen all the posts from various people and other community groups/pages and read all the comments both positive and negative about the events of Halloween night.Let me just start by telling everyone that there was a major discussion in the boxing club on Friday evening and I spent most of the junior and senior classes listening to stories from all the kids about all the bad things that happened. From hearing all this I learned 2 things, firstly that all the kids were really angry and ashamed of what had happened in their area which made me very proud of them and secondly that not all but a good portion of the young lads involved were not from the Connolly Park/Greenane Drive area.My own opinion on what happened on Thursday night can be summed up in one word "RESPONSIBILITY " . Firstly with the parent/parents of those involved, it is YOUR job and no one elses to know where your kids are and what they get up to at all times. Secondly our government ran agencies which our many taxes pay for, namely the council who should be removing the mountain of rubbish gathered up for the bonfire on the day of Halloween thereby removing the reason for those involved to be in the area at all and if they need a garda es**rt to do it then do that, next to our gardai, it's probably the busiest and most troublesome night of the year so why is there not a full force on patrol that night ? You have a year to prepare and organise for it,also why don't all the fathers who live in the area form a community group and help the gardai patrol the area on the night,no good moaning about what goes on if you're not prepared to stop it happening and again you have a year to prepare and organise and if you're not prepared to get involved for whatever reason then again it's your responsibility to know where your own kids are and if anyone thinks it's easy for me to say all this coz I don't live in town and I don't know what I'm on about you couldn't be more wrong as we had the same problems years ago with 2 local kids who used to hang around with a crew from other areas and bring them around every Halloween to do massive damage in our area and it wasn't until all the other parents got together and made it clear to them and their families that it wasn't happening again that it actually stopped, no violence needed just strong words from the right people about what would happen if it did along with some visits from the community gardai. This behaviour can be stopped if the good people in the community stand together and work with and have the support of the gardai and other groups. Like I said RESPONSIBILITY someone famous many years ago once said " evil only triumphs when good people do nothing " that statement will always be true no matter how old. There's alot of good things about Tipperary and I for one am fed up of only hearing and reading the bad.
