So the dust has just about settled on what was a epic weekend in Italy. We had 4 Athletes take on Ironman Italy and 2 take on Ironman Italy 70.3. What a show Ironman Italy and the city of Cervia put on. We Had Seamus Duggan smashing this Ironman as he always does and added yet another PB to he’s records. Then John O’ Brien smashing he’s first Ironman. Claire Mockler also in her first Ironman drilled it home after suffering stomach issues all day long , massive effort from Claire. Then PJ Collins brought home the team after a tough day. Up next was was Garvan Wickham in the 70.3 absolutely smashing it again with an incredible swim then Sean Reidy on he’s first 70.3 , Sean has not being swimming long and absolutely smashed the swim and the gave a display on both bike and run legs.
6 Athletes signed up and 6 signed out. Such a brilliant Successful day for the club. The swim was amazing in the warm still waters, the bike was definitely one area where we all got a bit of a set back with one fine climb for 70.3 and the Full Ironman athletics having to take it on twice and the headwinds of the motorway making it a tough cycle. Then onto the run which was super flat and so well supported all round the city. The heat on both days was a massive factor for everyone, it was touching 30 degrees on both days making it very hard on athletes. All in all a brilliant weekend was had on a proud couple of days for the club. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💪💪💪💪💪💪

Wishing the best of luck to our team heading to Ironman Italy next weekend .

Well what an epic day . Wind blowing in our face all day long it was a tough day out . What a bunch we had though absolute Steel running through the bunch since 7 today. From the moment we met Marie and Karen in dundrum this morning and really realised what we were doing this for , everyone was so focused to complete the challenge. It really was an emotional start but lots love and encouragement involved. Biggest surprise we had was the crowd that came to see us off at 7 on a Saturday morning. So appreciated ❤️. We have to thank so many, Mandy ,Marie and Janet for preparing the food and dishing it out it was unreal top notch . Big thanks has to go too the two lads from Ballymun Kickhams . Big thanks to Dundrum Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams also what a club 💪. Eoin and John such gentlemen and had everything organised for us when we got to Ballymun hurling field . Massive thanks too Mandy and Garvan’s sons Eoin and Enda , They stopped traffic, redirected traffic and brought cyclists back to the bunch after breaks . Class. Another massive thanks had to go to Mary and Tommy from Horse and Jockey cycling club for helping us get to Portlaoise this morning both of them such great cyclists and great company. The go fund me has absolutely blown us away. We are so thankful for every single cent . Collins Cycle Triathlon Club would like to Thank everyone so much 🙏🏻❤️.
