Last Sunday the club celebrated the minis end of season with the inaugural Muckfest. This celebration is in honour of Mark McCormack, aka Mucker/Mucks, one of our U9 coaches who sadly passed away in December 2025.
Muckfest is about having fun, great rugby and creating memories.
The “Mark McCormack Shield” was awarded to Matthew McCormack, Mark's son. This will be awarded each year to the U9 player who shows the Spirit of Rugby: determination, is a great team mate and most importantly brings the craic every Sunday so that their team mates leave happier than when we arrived.
One of the principal aims of Muckfest is the establishment of the Mark McCormack Players Support Fund. This fund is about opening doors. It will support children and families who may not otherwise have the opportunity to fully take part in rugby, helping with costs such as equipment, boots, and participation in trips and tours — the moments that make the game so special. Please donate here https://www.idonate.ie/event/smcrfcmuckfest2026
All support will be offered quietly and respectfully, ensuring that those who need it can benefit with dignity and confidence.
Through this fund, Mark's impact will continue to be felt — not just in memory, but in action — helping more young players to step onto the pitch, make friends, and experience the game he loved.
