I took the picture on the left on the 17th of May last year because I thought it was time to trim up.
I went into a calorie deficit for about 3 days and packed it in.
I asked myself what I really wanted from the gym and the answer was to be fitter and stronger…. a calorie deficit wasn’t gonna get me there! So I switched up the mindset and focused on performance. The aesthetics are a by-product of that, for which I am very grateful 💪
My want to be leaner just wasn’t strong enough to keep me on that fat loss journey. However, my want to be fitter and stronger lead me on a different path and the results meant so much more.
This isn’t a post to tell you not to focus on fat loss but to ask yourself:
What does that number on the scales mean to you?
What does that body-fat % mean to you?
If you’re not sure then why are you working towards it?
Put the focus into something you want to achieve and the results will be far more rewarding.
1 year on, same leggings, same changing room, different person, bigger smiles!
