The Metal Mariners The Metal Mariners are a community of boating enthusiasts who wish to promote the wonderful marine environment Sligo has to offer.

You are invited to join the METAL MARINERS the page of all of the users of the wonderful maritime environment that Sligo has to offer. The plan is to provide a forum to promote the use and enjoyment of the sea off the Sligo coast and the lakes within the County in a safe and environmentally sustainable way. We plan to facilitate discussion, share knowledge, organise events and training fo

r the all the sailors, boat owners (big and small), canoeists, rowers, surfers and kitesurfers and swimmers (including triathletes) and anyone else who wishes to join us on or in the water.

Ø Or are you crew who would like to be considered for a trip?

Ø Broken something and looking for someone who can fix it or who might have or knows where to get a replacement?

Ø Offering training and looking for trainees?

Ø Need local knowledge?

Ø Have great photos you want to share?

Ø Building a boat or canoe and looking for skills?

Ø Organising an event and need help and participants? Whatever your need its put up a post and someone will have the answer.

Launch at 12 from Aughamore Bay, race starts at 1. Donations to North West Hospice.

Sligo bay would be a great venue for the next one!

Thousands are taking part in the The Skiffie Coastal Rowing World Championships in Stranraer this week. The competition requires teams to build their 'Skiff' coastal rowing boats before they take to Loch Ryan to race them.
