Skibbereen AFC is a community soccer club based in West Cork. We cater for players age 8+ and new players & members are always welcome.

Currently we compete in the West Cork Schoolboys league, West Cork league & Cork Womens & Schoolgirls league.

⚽🏆 SKIBBEREEN A.F.C. WORLD CUP 2026 – GOLDEN MINUTE 🏆⚽

The World Cup is almost here, and we're running our popular Golden Minute Competition!

💰 €10 Entry
🎯 90 Places Available
🏆 1st Prize: €300
🎟️ Anyone who finishes on zero points, will be entered into a draw for €100.

How it Works:

✅ Each player is randomly allocated one minute between 1 and 90 before the tournament begins.

✅ You keep that same minute for the entire World Cup.

✅ Every time a goal is scored during normal time in any of the 104 World Cup matches, points are awarded if the goal is scored in your minute.

Points System:

⚽ Group Stage Goal = 10 Points
⚽ Last 32 / Last 16 Goal = 20 Points
⚽ Quarter Final / Semi Final Goal = 30 Points
⚽ Final Goal = 50 Points

🏅 The player with the most points at the end of the tournament wins the cash prize.

Everyone at Skibbereen AFC is deeply saddened by the passing of Cllr. Joe Carroll.

A passionate and dedicated advocate for West Cork, Cllr. Carroll served his community with distinction over many years. He was elected Mayor of the County of Cork in 2024, a role he undertook with great pride and commitment.

A member of Fianna Fáil, Cllr. Carroll was first elected to Cork County Council in June 2004, representing the Skibbereen–West Cork local electoral area. His career in public service began in 1999 when he was elected to Skibbereen Town Council, marking the beginning of a lifetime devoted to serving his community.

A native of Dunmanway, Cllr. Carroll lived in Skibbereen for most of his life with his wife Sheila and their family. Prior to his political career, he worked as a bus driver with CIE and later as a publican. He was deeply committed to improving quality of life in West Cork and worked tirelessly to support tourism, improve infrastructure, champion local businesses, and create opportunities for young people.

Cllr. Carroll devoted a significant portion of his life to public service, serving the people of West Cork with dedication, integrity and care. His contribution has left a lasting legacy - politically, professionally and personally - on all who worked with him and on the communities he represented. He will be remembered with great fondness by all who knew him.

We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to his wife Sheila and family, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

As Liverpool continue struggle, will Slot finally come undone? Chelseas troubles look to run deep after Rosenior dropped Enzo Fernandez ahead of 2 big games, will he see another year at Stamford Bridge?

All jokes aside, Last Man Standing returns TODAY.

Our junior teams have officially put down their weapons and are coming together for one night only — swapping tackles for trivia and goals for general knowledge!

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Fiachra Garrett who won West Cork Schoolboys and Schoolgirls League Academy U14 Player of the Year.

Fiachra works extremely hard on & off the pitch. His commitment and attitude are a testament to his passion for the game, especially from a young player.

He was a key player in last seasons U14 team and is getting ready to return to the pitch with the U15s this season.

2024 saw him once again be selected for the West Cork Team. He competed in the SFAI Kennedy Cup, the Surf Cup in Barcelona and just last week a trip to England with his team & coaches.

We are extremely proud of Fiachra and look forward to watching his sporting journey.

It goes to show that hard work & dedication pays off. 👏
