U14 League Match Report

A great result for the lads today against Enniskerry, and with next week’s Cup Final against the same opposition, it certainly gave us a little taste of what’s to come!

The game was evenly balanced at 1-1 at half-time, but the lads showed great determination, teamwork, and quality in the second half to run out impressive 7-1 winners.

Roundwood Reach the Cup Final with a 3-2 Semi-Final Victory Over Rathnew

Tonight we welcomed Rathnew to Varty Park for a semi-final that proved to be a fantastic match for everyone watching. Roundwood started brightly and kept the pressure on from the opening whistle.

After 10 minutes, that pressure paid off when Daniel found the net to give Roundwood a deserved lead. Ten minutes before half-time, Roundwood doubled their advantage from a free kick. Callum’s effort struck the post and Max reacted quickest to slot home the rebound, sending us into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Rathnew came out strongly in the second half and pulled a goal back when a shot found its way through to the net. Roundwood responded immediately. A clearance released Rowan from inside our own half and he showed great determination to beat the defender and finish superbly to restore our two-goal advantage.

Rathnew continued to battle and scored again from a shot outside the box, setting up a tense finish. The final few minutes were nail-biting, but the lads held firm until the final whistle to secure a 3-2 victory and a place in the final.

A huge thank you to our U13 players who stepped up to help the team tonight, and a special mention to our U12 goalkeeper, who commanded his area brilliantly and made several excellent saves throughout the game.

After a week of wins, losses, and even a penalty shootout, Callum and the Wicklow team have reached the Kennedy Cup Trophy Final!

We’re incredibly proud of Callum, his teammates, Hugh, and all the coaches. It’s been a fantastic week filled with hard work, determination, friendship, and memories that will last a lifetime.
