Round 6 of the Healthy Offaly 5k Road Race Series was hosted by Naomh Mhuire AC Daingean. After all the dust had settled from our own 5k race it was time to get back on the roads again in support of our offaly neighbours in Daingean. Huge turnout of 439 runners on the day for this brilliant race. The Ambrose Hickey memorial is always well supported by the club and on this occasion it was the same with 21 from the club participating. Solid running from all yet again with Bríd Ryan taking home first in her age category.

We had the following representing the club on the day William Delahunty, Diarmuid Egan, Bríd Ryan, Donal White, Joey Tuohy, Caroline Glynn, Vincent Shields, Luke Ryan, Rachel Lynch, Sandra Fitzpatrick, Ruth Shields, Ger Brereton, Julie Polden, Ken Wall, Kelly Hayes, Majella Browne, Angela Lynch, Avril Tierney, Gerry Carroll, Ruth Fitzpatrick and Martin Carroll.

Well done to Sandra Fitzpatrick, Ruth Shields, Luke Ryan, Martin Cummins, Gerry Carroll and Martin Carroll who travelled to the Dave Fogarty 4 mile hosted by Thurles Crokes Athletic Club recently.

Last weekend we had the last of our individuals competing at Leinster T&F.
On Saturday Mia contested the u13 long jump improving with each jump she put in. A super jump put her into silver medal position & a place at National Finals. Emilyrose Fox-Franks was in the u13 long jump and javelin getting a new pb in the javelin event.

Sunday Róisín & Lauren Kealey contested the u12 long jump & hurdles. Both put in great performances in these events with Róisín making it to the final in both events.
Marie Shanahan in her last year at juvenile competition contested u19 discus where she opened with a big throw where she held the gold medal position throughout the competition. Another qualification to National Finals.
We are very proud of all our athletes and the effort they put in at training and in competition 👏 👏👏👏

Aisling Murphy 4 mile race

In a race which started off a memorial to Aisling, it has quickly also turned into a highly competitive race while bringing the running community together in honour of Aisling, her family, friends and people of the local community. Our club was well represented again this year as always to pay tribute to Aisling and get a great run in around the streets of Tullamore. 709 runners took part in the main race with countless others in the walk section paying their own tribute. Great running from our members on the day and times not the first thing on everyone's minds. Great show of community spirit with lots of cheering from roadside spectators and music along the course. Another great show of solidarity from.memebrs of clubs far and wide for this event. Well done everyone on representing the club.

Leinster Pairs took place in Tullamore where we had 4 pairs in action

Fiadh McLoughlin & Naoibh Ryan u9 competed in 300m & Long Jump. A first outing for this duo. The girls did very well in the 300m and excelled in the Long Jump to bring home the Gold.

Sarah O'Brien & Kaylah Dennedy competed u11 in 80m & Long Jump. Having competed last year the girls had an idea what to expect. They put in great run in sprint but like the u9s Long jump was to be their event. They too excelled finishing in 2nd place. Both of these teams jumped themselves to a medal & a National Qualification spot.

Jack & James O'Keeffe were u10 competing in 500m & Turbo Javlin. Clark McDonald & Charlie Glynn were u11 competing in Long Jump & 60m. These 4 put in strong effort and can be proud of their efforts. Much more to come from these.

U12 Roisin Kealey contested the 600m with a great run in the semi she comfortably qualified for the final where she put in another solid run finishing fast with another great performance.
Emilyrose Fox-Franks contested u13 shot putt where she was consistent with her throws across the board.

U13s we had 3 sprinters competing Anna Douglas, Emily Murphy & Mia McDonald. Drawn in fast heats each of the girls had to work hard & they all put in super runs with Anna & Mia progressing to the semi. Again the pressure was on and two more great races which saw Mia through to the final with Anna just missing out. In the final it was all to fight for. Mia got stuck in from the start with it neck & neck to the line. With all eyes on the board Mia's name came up 3rd place & a National Qualifier.

With no time to recover Anna, Emily & Mia teamed up with Kelly from Banagher Athletic Club , Rebecca from Edenderry & Mollie from Tullamore Harriers to represent Offaly in u13 county relays. With only a little baton practice on the day the girls were determined from the start & fought each of the legs and were justly rewarded with the silver medal. Great to see County teams from a mix of clubs. The club & coaches are so proud of all the athletes. Thanks to Parents & Coaches for their support on the day
