River is in great condition at the moment, the levels are ideal. With the water temps still being fairly low, the coarse fish are still bunched up in their winter shoals, in deep water. Probably 50-60 fish last Saturday morning on the feeder, mainly small Roach, with the odd Rudd, and bigger Roach and Hybrid making an appearance.

Some good sized Pike caught yesterday for Connacht Predator Anglers "Fish within your County" Pike competition. The Pike were in great condition, and of course returned to fight another day.

Best of luck to the lads kayaking and canoeing the full length of the River Suck next weekend, to raise funds for the Noah and Rowan Benson Gately Support Group. I don't know what will be more difficult, two days of rowing, or fighting the urge bring the rods with them! Please support the lads in their challenge, this is the link to donate: https://ie.gofundme.com/f/noah-and-rowan-bensongately-support-group

We had a club day on Toomans Fisheries on Thursday, and what a day it was. Plenty of carp to just over double figures landed. We'll have trouble keeping some of our members away from the place for a while! We look forward to making our return to Toomans again this summer.

A few weeks ago, our club members noticed a "camp" in the trees just downstream from the bridge in Ballyforan. It was clear that fish were being killed in this spot, as there was a large amount of scales on the ground. Since then, we have been working with IFI to catch these people in the act, so that fines could be issued. Over the course of the weekend, fines were issued on two separate occasions, one for the killing of the coarse fish in the picture, and another for the killing of oversized Pike. We would like to thank IFI for their work, visiting this site, and other sites in the area pretty much every day at different times to try to catch the poachers in the act. Needless to say, these daily visits are to continue from both IFI, and our club members.

IFI staff seized these coarse fish at River Suck, Galway late last night. There was a fine issued for a breach of the coarse fish bye laws for having too many coarse fish- 18 fish in total.

The river suck is just below the magic 100cm mark in Derrycahill. This means most of the banks will be accessible for the first time in weeks.

Good day on Ree, water is pretty high, and temps are dropping. Few Pike in the 80-90cm range.
