A few weeks ago, our club members noticed a "camp" in the trees just downstream from the bridge in Ballyforan. It was clear that fish were being killed in this spot, as there was a large amount of scales on the ground. Since then, we have been working with IFI to catch these people in the act, so that fines could be issued. Over the course of the weekend, fines were issued on two separate occasions, one for the killing of the coarse fish in the picture, and another for the killing of oversized Pike. We would like to thank IFI for their work, visiting this site, and other sites in the area pretty much every day at different times to try to catch the poachers in the act. Needless to say, these daily visits are to continue from both IFI, and our club members.
IFI staff seized these coarse fish at River Suck, Galway late last night. There was a fine issued for a breach of the coarse fish bye laws for having too many coarse fish- 18 fish in total.
