The club had a historic weekend in the Junior National Championships last weekend which were played in Kenilworth Bowling Club, Dublin. We had success in 3 of the major events with two cup wins and one runners up spot.

Top of the list was Adrian Tanner who won the Junior Singles Championship, The team 4s National Championship and runner up in the National Pairs Championship with his father George. An incredible achievable for a bowls player who had to play 6 games in 3 days in very hot conditions. Well done Adrian, our Irish Junior National Singles Champion.

Also we had success in the 4s Mecredy Cup where Adrian Tanner, Pat O'Reilly, George Tanner and Skip Eamonn Stroker had victory after playing their semi final and final in 2 hard fought games. Well done gentlemen you have done yourselves and ICICYMA/ Garryduff Bowls Club proud.

Catchpole Triples 2026

The Catchpole Triples tournament concluded with the semi finals and finals last Tuesday 7th July The team of Eamonn Stroker, Gertrude Stroker and Michael O'Regan emerged victorious with Ray Ryan, Mary Ryan and Noelle Hegarty as Runner's Up.

The group stages were held on Saturday and we had a great entry with teams from Youghal, Causeway and Lower Aghada. The Garryduff teams were also complimented with guest players and we were delighted to have them playing.

The Raffle raised €200 with proceeds going to Charity Alone.

Thanks to all who entered and as always to the committee for organising the whole event.

A fantastic afternoon was had on Saturday as we played for the Bowls President’s Cup. 'New’ Bowlers were paired off with regular bowlers and played off on a round robin basis. It was fantastic to have nearly 30 people out on the green on what turned out to be a beautiful afternoon.

Congrats to the winning team of Denis Mulcahy, Glenn Hanna and Jonathan Warren Perry with the team of Sue O’Neill, Simon Taylor and Noelle Hegarty as runners up.

Huge thanks to Alan for being able to take a list of names and a few minutes later have devised a tournament for us all to enjoy. Thanks to all the regular members who gave guidance and welcomed all the ‘new’ bowlers. Special mention to James Taylor for drumming up some interest and getting most of the non players to enter.

We look forward to welcoming Causeway next Sunday 14th July @ 2.30PM for the 2nd Match of our Summer League.

Today was the last game in the Ronnie Shellard trophy between ourselves and our friends in Causeway Bowls (Dungarvan). Causeway won both legs of the competition and Causeway Captain, Brian Brennan was presented with the trophy by Betty Shellard. Thank you, as ever to all in Causeway for your welcome, hospitality and continued friendship.

The Club wish to extend our condolences to the Wolfe family on the passing of John. He was secretary of the bowls section for many years and also a former trustee of the wider sports association.

Today saw the conclusion of the Catchpole Triples, played again in glourious sunshine. The winning team was George Tanner, Adrian Tanner & Alfie Tanner beating the team of Dave Hennessy, Sarah Ryan & Denis Mulcahy. Congratulations to all the teams that made it through to the Fiansl day
