A busy weekend for our men’s seniors with all three of our men’s teams in league action 🔴⚪️

SATURDAY

Our first senior fixture of the weekend kicks off at 2.30 pm in Trim as our Men’s Senior first team travel to face Trim Celtic AFC Reserves in Division 1 league action.

Our Men’s Senior third team are also on the road as they travel to OMP United to continue their Division 4 campaign. Kick off is 3 pm.

SUNDAY
Our Men’s Senior Second team are aiming to make it three Division 3A league wins in a row on Sunday morning as they host Ballivor FC in Robinstown. Kick off is at 11.30 am.

All support welcome for each of our teams as they continue their league campaigns this weekend.

Robinstown FC 2 - 2 Enfield Celtic FC

Robinstown started strongly on Sunday morning against Enfield Celtic, aiming for an improved performance from the previous week.

It wasn’t long before Cory McCarthy found the net, heading home from a Brian Fay set piece in the 20th minute. Despite conceding against the run of play from a well-taken set piece on the half-hour mark, Shane Bell put the hosts back in front minutes later following a long-range pass from Paul Maxwell.

The travelling side equalised from another set piece at the start of the second half and, despite a good showing from both sides in attack, the game ended level, with both teams reduced to ten men late on.

Best of luck to Enfield Celtic FC for the rest of the season.

Well done to the girls today on a fantastic performance all round with everyone putting in the hard work that was needed and playing some brilliant football. We completely dominated the first half and the 5-1 half time score didn't flatter us . Goals from Alannah (2),Lucia,Kelly and Ella gave us a fully deserved 5-1 half time lead. Indeed 2 of the goals are contenders for goal of the season with Ella running with the ball from midfield and beating a number of tackles to slice through Longwood and finish in the far corner. Alannah's first goal came from brilliant work from Kelly who won the ball in midfield and battled through 3 tackles to carry the ball forward and pass it into Alannah who placed it in the far corner.
Longwood came into it in the second half and pulled 2 goals back and could have had a couple more but for some fine saves by Rachel. We then had a few good chances of our own to kill the game but couldn't take them. Ellie Mae was superb in defence and won every ball she went for and was ably supported by Amelie,Mairead and Ellie/ Kathryn who defended superbly when we were under pressure. Our midfield of Lucia,Emilia,Ella and Natalia covered a lot of ground and put in a lot of hard work ( and brilliant football) and our front line of Kelly and Alannah kept their defence under pressure and could easily have had a few more goals. Nice to see Isabelle come along and give her support even though she was injured.

A run of four wins in a row came to an end for Robinstown at home to title chasing Torro United AFC on Sunday morning in the league.

Challenge Cup Result

Robinstown FC 2 - 1 Glenmuir United FC

Robinstown made it four wins in as many games on Sunday morning beating premier division side Glenmuir at home in the challenge cup.

The home side started strongly as they soaked up early pressure and having grown into the game in the early phases, took the lead through a Daniel Pierse counter who smartly played in Paul Curtin who found the net with a left footed volley inside the box.

Robinstown’s second came only 5 minutes later as Tommy Carroll played in Ciaran Fitzsimons as they broke the Glenmuir line once again on the break. Fitzsimons found the bottom corner from outside the box with a first time shot. The home side took the 2 goal lead into the break.

The Second half started much the same as the visitors tried to break down the strong Robinstown defence with little luck. It wasn’t until the final quarter hour of the game that Glenmuir scored from a breaking ball after a cleared corner. Despite this, the home side didn’t flinch and defended strongly, most notably with Aidan Hilliard clearing a ball of the line at the end.

Robinstown advance to the Challenge Cup quarter finals with a home fixture against the holders, Johnstown FC, next. Best of luck to Glenmuir for the rest of the season.

Division 1�BLACKBULL FC 2 – 3 ROBINSTOWN FC

Our senior first team returned to league action this past Sunday afternoon with an away trip to Albion to face Blackbull FC.

The reds started on the front foot with Ciaran Fitzsimons finding the net from inside the box after a great piece of solo play following a pass from Daniel Pierse. Fitzsimons had a few more chances in the half as Robinstown continued to have the better of the chances but failed to find a second before the break.

Blackbull found the net minutes into the second half but that didn’t put off the away side as Shane Bell put the reds ahead once again on the hour mark after a great piece of play and cross from Cormac Connell. Just over ten minutes later, Daniel Pierse battled hard in the midfield to win the ball and play Shane Bell in who finished from a distance with a fantastic chip over the keeper.

Robinstown saw out the game, battling to the end. Despite conceding late, a brilliant block off the line from Paul Curtin and a block from Tommy Carroll kept the home side to the 2 goals and all three points to head back home with the lads.

Halftime score 0-0
Good defensive work from Robinstown ensured they didn't concede from open play. However 15 mins into the 2nd half a poorly cleared corner meant Albion scored which turned out to be the only goal of the game. Good defensive work from Ashley and Sarah and a fine save from Hollie helped the Robinstown defensive performance. Robinstown ended up dissapointed that they didn't get more out of the game but plenty to learn from after a very close competitive contest where good defending by both teams limited the game to just one goal.
