Haynestown Celtic Triumph Over Glen United in a 6-3 Thriller.

We displayed a breathtaking performance, securing a resounding 6-3 victory against Glen United in our first match of the season.

Right from the start, we showed our intent, relentlessly pushing forward with our attacking prowess. It was James 'Peanut' O'Connor who broke the deadlock, showcasing his exceptional talent with a well-timed strike that sent the crusied into the net. Peanut's prowess continued throughout the game, netting an impressive hat-trick and leaving the Glen United defenders in awe.

Not to be outdone, Dwayne Markey proved his worth, executing with precision to score two brilliant goals. He exhibited a fantastic combination of speed, skill, and composure that left Glen United's defense scrambling to keep up. Dwayne's contributions were integral to our dominance in the match.

Ify Kwele's goal served as the cherry on top, solidifying our commanding victory. Kwele's impeccable headed finish showcased his aerial threat, leaving Glen United's goalkeeper with no chance.

Congratulations to all players for a magnificent display and a well-deserved victory.

Tomorrow sees us in action for our first game of the 2023/24 North Louth Winter League 💪

Our 2023 Summer League campaign got underway last night with an away fixture against Glen United.

A strong start saw us go 2-0 up in the first 10mins thanks to an ice cold penalty (a clear penalty at that) from James 'Peanut' O'Connor and an almighty chip the keeper shot from the 18yard line by Jason Quinn.

As the 1st half drew to a close Glen held a narrow lead at 3-2. Unfortunately this lead widened shortly into the 2nd half with an awkward deflection creeping past our keeper. However, thanks to our lads keeping their heads and some expert substitutes by management we clawed two goals back in the form of Dwayne Markey with some tidy footwork and Jordan Traynor with a powerhouse of a shot from outside the 18yard line, both off the bench, to claim a very well deserved point.

All the team fought hard from start to finish and were unlucky not to get a win in the end but very well done on mounting a come back to secure the point.

Our next outting is Monday 26th June away to Faughart, KO 19:30 at The Lumpers.
